As the NDTE Team Lead, you will manage and supervise team personnel; operate, maintain and service Armor Inspection System (AIS); and inspect body armor plates for integrity at the Sierra Army Depot (SIAD).
Essential Job Functions: (not limited to duties as described - performs related duties as requested)

+ Supervise a small team of personnel at SIAD to conduct non-destructive testing of body armor plates. Setup and initialize Armor Inspection System.

+ Diagnose performance issues and make repairs.

+ Operate system.

+ Unpacking and packing body armor plates.

+ Making minor cosmetic repairs to body armor plates.

+ Supervise technicians.

+ Organize and manage mission.

+ Develop and submit reports.

Level of Supervision: Works unsupervised in a reliable manner to complete all tasks within schedule and quality standards.

Required Education & Experience:

+ HS Graduate or GED

Contractor Personnel shall demonstrate the following:

+ Leadership experience performing in a supervisory or team lead position within the past 5 years.

+ Ability to read and utilize mechanical drawings and manuals.

+ At least 3 years of previous experience, within the last 5 years, performing general electrical control and electronic troubleshooting, and circuit-level troubleshooting and system-level control wiring troubleshooting.

+ At least 3 years of previous experience, within the last 5 years, with Microsoft Windows 7 or 10 operating systems, including the use of basic Microsoft Operating Systems commands.

+ Familiarity with Microsoft Excel to view database tables.

License & Certifications:

NDTE Team Lead/Technician shall take and pass:

+ The Armor Inspection System (AIS) Manufacturer's exam

+ A basic electronics exam to demonstrate proficiency.

An exam grade of 75% or higher is required to pass both exams.

+ Forklift license a plus.

Knowledge & Skills:

Prior experience with NDTE program a plus.

Physical Demands/Working Environment:

This is a physically demanding job. Constant lifting and moving body armor plates. Frequently moving 25 or more pounds.

Travel:

Potential to travel 25% of the time with occasional OCONUS deployments.

Security Clearance:

Possession of a U.S. Government Secret clearance.

A Senior Calibration Technician is the highest-level technician position within Transcat. These technicians will have the ability to calibrate equipment in at least 6 disciplines - or a competency level of 4-5 (expert) in at least two disciplines.
Major Areas of Responsibility

+ Perform their own calibration work with little to no supervision

+ Must be able to explain calibration issues and processes to customers when needed

+ Coordinate and manage daily workloads without direction from manager

+ Able to conduct calibration work at customer onsites with little to no supervision

+ Identify and utilize appropriate measurement techniques and be able to design budgets.

+ Clear comprehension of uncertainties

+ Maintain calibration standards.

+ Must be able to perform these functions within a laboratory or customer onsite setting

The Novelis Global Research and Technology Center (NGRTC) is seeking a Lab Team Leader, Sr. Technologist I to join our team in Kennesaw, Ga. The person in this role will report to the R&D Lab Manager and will have 9 direct reports. The ideal candidate will be working in collaboration with physical/process metallurgy, process technology labs, and value stream groups to develop leading-edge product and process technologies in current and emerging markets for Novelis. The candidate will act as an advocate and will support the day-to-day running of a dedicated team in their department. In addition to overseeing a team, the Sr. Technologist I will perform analysis in various laboratories such as: Corrosion, Surface Treatment and Coatings. The Lab Team Leader owns all aspects driving ongoing improvement by having oversight of training, instruments/equipment, ISO Compliance, and the users of the lab to ensure the safety and efficiency of the lab.
Responsibilities:

+ Lead and manage a team of 5-8 technologists, technicians and engineers

+ Oversee all aspects of team management, including annual performance review, talent review and succession planning

+ Identify growth opportunities for direct reports to ensure continuous development.

+ Serves as an advisor to lab responsibles to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems

+ Ensure Standard Operating Procedures and Quality System protocols are current, maintained, and applied with an emphasis on good laboratory practices, i.e., implementation and maintenance of housekeeping programs, ISO 17025 compliance, and Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) compliance

+ Ensure all users/visitors are compliant with all Safety Absolutes and other EHS initiatives.

+ Participate in the safety walk-throughs and ensure any highlighted issues and improvement opportunities are addressed

+ Ensure all laboratory staff is properly trained in Standard Operating Procedures, Quality System protocols, and equipment specific requirements.

+ Assist in formulating and implementing the short and long-range goals for the operation of the NGRTC laboratories

+ Monitor deployment of the team's resources, identifying constraints, working with teams and other leaders to implement effective cross-training plans to mitigate constraints.

+ Drive enhancements of the laboratory's capabilities by improving existing equipment and methods, or making recommendations on introduction of new ones

+ Propose new equipment additions and justifications for annual capital investment planning. Oversee purchase and commission of equipment within proposed budget and on-time

+ Familiar with aluminum is a plus

Minimum Qualifications

+ requires 5 years of progressive experience and a BS in a relevant field, i.e. Chemical Engineering, Chemistry and Biology, or equivalent experience

+ Hands on laboratory experience working on material characterization and testing, R&D, or manufacturing environment

+ Basic knowledge with ASTM corrosion testing a plus, i.e., ASTM G85, G44, G67

+ Ability to balance multiple priorities across multiple projects or work streams.

+ Demonstrates an understanding of the KPIs for a work area or project and the link to the significance to the business. Learning knowledge of other disciplines.

+ Maintains awareness of latest technologies relevant to lab operations.

+ Ability to independently isolate a problem and draw upon knowledge and experience to design appropriate possible solutions

+ Considers multiple aspects in problem solving (e.g. economics, operating, maintenance, technical) in area of responsibility

+ Strong communication and leadership skills
