Overview This position is primarily responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks. We offer in-house advanced-training opportunities - we are one of only three dealer groups in North America that is certified to conduct all Mack/Volvo training up to the master tech certification within our in house Training Centers. We cover travel costs for our technicians to attend training. We also offer a family-oriented work environment. Responsibilities Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests to troubleshoot issues and repair vehicle to proper operating condition Perform advanced repairs and replace major components such as radiators, valve adjustments, and turbos Rebuild or repair major components such as transmissions, gear plates and block reconditioning Perform entire engine overhauls including replacing heads, rods and main bearings Troubleshoot and perform complex wiring repairs and diagnose and repair any electronic issues Perform routine and preventative maintenance services. Identify worn and damaged parts all parts to include major components, repairing, adjusting, or replacing as needed Maintain safe and organized work area Ability to be on task to meet shop quality and efficiency standards Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs Follow all state and federal vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards; follow company policies, procedures, and safety and EPA regulations Must use all safety equipment necessary for the job Maintain current knowledge of job and technical skills by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical and regulation publications Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems Qualifications Minimum 5 years practical experience in commercial 6 & 8 truck classes Must have own hand tools Highly proficient in the repair and diagnosis of all aspects of commercial trucks; such as diesel engines, transmissions, clutches, drive shafts & differentials; electrical systems, HVAC systems, hydraulic systems, steering systems, and brakes High expertise in troubleshooting using diagnostic software OEM Master Tech certifications & Cummins training preferred Proficient computer skills to input vehicle maintenance records and utilize diagnostic software Ability to meet physical demands of the job (job requires frequent lifting/moving up to 50lbs, climbing, stooping, kneeling, seeing, grasping, hearing, etc.) Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision Ability to maintain predictable and reliable attendance and work in a safe and alert manner Valid driver's license and able to meet insurance requirements. CDL license preferred but not required Compensation The base pay range for this position is $31.62 to $39.52.
