In 2007, the college acquired use of the property at 1520 Metropolitan Parkway, adjacent to main campus, through the Atlanta Technical College Foundation, Inc.
2007: Effingham Campus opens with 11,716 square feet.
The college also received a $2.9 million grant in December 2008 from the Technical College System of Georgia to construct a career academy in conjunction with the Clarke County School District, the University of Georgia, and the OneAthens anti-poverty initiative.
The Greene County Board of Commissioners renovated a portion of the existing facility in 2008 to accommodate this expansion.
She has completed additional training in economic development and is a graduate of the L.E.A.D. Athens Class of 2008.
In 2008, the Department of Technical and Adult Education officially adopted a new name — the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) — to reflect a coordinated system, integrating the educational efforts of the public technical colleges throughout the state.
2008: The Liberty Campus Library was posthumously named in honor of longtime campus administrator, Glenda Giddens.
On July 1, 2009, Chattahoochee Technical College came into being from the merger of three previously independent units of the Technical College System of Georgia – Appalachian Technical College, Chattahoochee Technical College, and North Metro Technical College.
Groundbreaking ceremonies for the facility were held in September 2009, with construction starting shortly thereafter.
2009: Academic Commons opens on Savannah Campus adding 23 new classrooms, labs and faculty offices, marking the first building designed using green sustainable technology.
The $14 million Brenda Watts Jones Allied Health and Technology Complex opened in the fall of 2010.
2010: Savannah Technical College named by Community College magazine as one of the top 25 fastest-growing 2-year colleges of its size in the country, placing 22 among colleges serving between 5,000 and 9,999 students.
The career academy opened in August 2011.
Athens Technical College is one of just 30 community colleges nationwide to receive an invitation to join the 2011 cohort of Achieving the Dream: Community Colleges Count.
Athens Technical College and three other colleges in Georgia received funding to redesign learning support coursework as part of a $1 million grant from Complete College America in 2011.
In August 2012, the college completed a $4.8 million renovation of a new 36,000 square foot state-of-the-art library, testing center, and facility department hub.
The State Board of the Technical College System of Georgia announced today that its members have chosen Savannah Technical College as its 2013 college of the year.
Savannah Technical College was selected as one of four finalists for the 2014 TCSG Technical College of the Year.
At the announcement in February 2015, the campaign had raised $4.4 million through early corporate commitments.
The sign was installed at the Savannah Campus in Fall 2015.

Skylar Huggett, STC Welding student, received 2017 Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) honoring the technical student of the year.
In 2018, Doctor Daniel gained approval for the completion of an $8.2 Million Agriculture Science Building on the Elbert Campus of Athens Technical College.
Savannah Technical College was ranked first in the United States by Military Times with the new rankings Military Times Best: Career & Technical Colleges 2018 rankings for the second year in a row.
A new program, Conservation Law, in partnership with the Department of Natural Resources, will be added.In late 2019, under the direction of Doctor Daniel, the college constructed a new visitor center and college entrance.
