Job Description
In this volunteer position you will be developing Shaders, Lighting, Particles, Optimization Work and Visual Effects (FX) for The Lays of Althas: Sundered Order (LoA:SO), an open-world Fantasy RPG being developed in Unreal Engine 4 (UE4).
OpenGL and Git experience isn't required, but is recommended.
Communication is key to a smooth and efficient pipeline, you must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with other team-members and not be afraid to ask should any problems arise. We are an English-speaking team, so English fluency is a must.
Other duties include: attending Slack meetings (Slack is an instant messaging we communicate with), reporting your progress to the Level Design team on a weekly basis and following team policies.

The Senior Surfacing Artist establishes the look and surface qualities for animated characters, props and environments.
Through the use and development of textures and shaders; the Surfacing Artist will guide the production process to achieve the desired visual style. The Surfacing Artist collaborates with or aids the rest of the CG team to ensure the proper workflow and specifications are being developed to achieve the desired look on all textures.

About you:
Working within a brief and using 2D design reference to paint CG textures that are faithful to the style of the production.
Develop shaders for all CG assets.
Submit CG assets for review, rendering in a way that best indicates their use within the Series.
Create some UV maps as required, that adhere to pipeline requirements and are suitable for the resolution and complexity of the assets.
Collaborate with the CG modelling team in giving feedback of UV mapping that is suitable for the resolution and complexity of the assets.
Collaborate with the CG and BG teams on all creative and technical issues, to ensure assets are delivered to the very highest standard and correctly for the subsequent departments.
Work in partnership with lighters and compositors to ensure schedules and deadlines are met as established by the Producer and Directors. And all other duties and responsibilities as reasonably required by the Production Company.
Skillset:
In-depth knowledge of Maya and Photoshop and high proficiency in painting softwares like Substance Painter or Mari.
Experience in Katana and a good knowledge of photoreal and non photoreal renderers.
Ability to work in close partnership with the CG and Design teams;
Ability to work within a team environment and follow guidance from creative and technical supervisors.
Ability to maintain a consistent level of productivity in a fast-paced work environment while producing high quality work.
Ability to work independently as well as under direct supervision.

In this volunteer position, you will be asked to create a variety of high-quality concept art and/or illustrative work for The Lays of Althas: Sundered Order (LoA:SO). Job Description
In this volunteer position we are looking for someone who specializes in creating 3D realistic Creatures (yet with fantastical and heraldic touches/details), which includes Mesh Sculpting, Texturing and Fur/Hair Card experience, for "The Lays of Althas: Sundered Order" (LoA:SO). These Creatures would be seem alongside realistic Human characters. Rigging and Skinning Experience with 3D Creatures is not required, but is certainly helpful.
Communication is key to a smooth and efficient pipeline. You must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with other team-members and not be afraid to ask should any problems arise. We are an English-speaking team, so English fluency is a must.
If you are comfortable with teaching, you may be called upon to aid the more junior members of the team in any relevant area.

The Lays of Althas: Sundered Order
" (LoA:SO).
We are currently using
Reallusion Character Creator 3
(********************************************** to create out Human Characters. It is used to Sculpt Characters. While CC3 offers some Hair and Clothing/Armor options, we especially need 3D Character Artists to create Hair, Clothing and Armor that our Project needs that CC3 can't provide. While experience with CC3 is recommended, we aren't requiring it for new 3D Character Artists. If you don't own a copy of CC3, we can get you a copy of the software.
