Description: Currently, we're looking for a Senior Technical Artist. This opportunity is for a full-time position in Cambridge, MA or Chicago, IL. Senior Technical Artists at Disbelief are leaders and key contributors on their project. They act as a bridge between the technical and artistic aspects of game development, empowering programming, art and design to achieve more than either could on their own. Beyond solving tough problems on their own, tech artists act as mentors and teachers. As a Senior Technical Artist, you will be a key in investigating and solving difficult performance problems while maintaining visual quality. You will work in a variety of areas including modeling, materials, texturing, animation, FX, gameplay, UI, as well as building art tools to improve workflows.

Key Responsibilities:
Solve technical problems from an artist's point of view
Diagnose and solve performance problems while championing visual quality standards

This role involves collaborating closely with a multifaceted, interconnected team dedicated to crafting engaging, first-party infrastructure, systems, and tools for our platform aimed at shaping the metaverse.
**Required Skills:**
Technical Artist, Metaverse Responsibilities:
1. Partner closely with the engineering and design teams to develop content across a range of devices.
2. Implement runtime logic within a complex real-time environment with performance limitations in mind.
3. Develop broad technical expertise to assist in a wide variety of technical and artistic tasks, including diagnosing and fixing bugs.
4. Quickly solve issues with cross-functional leads.
5. Design, manage and maintain the pipeline from artists and end users through to deployment.
6. Prototype, profile and optimize custom shaders.
**Minimum Qualifications:**

7. 5+ years of experience developing real-time experiences.
8. Demonstrated expertise with at least one of the following pipelines: Environments, Character, Rigging, Runtime Behaviors, or Asset Pipeline.
9. You understand architecture for complex tools and pipelines with a focus on content creators.
10. Experience in shader languages (GLSL, ShaderLab, HLSL).
11. Experience with game/real-time profiling and optimization techniques.
12. Experience collaborating on multi-disciplinary teams.
13. Expertise working with version control systems (Git, Perforce, etc.), using advanced workflows.

14. Expertise in at least one low-level programming language (C++ preferred).
15. Deep knowledge of real-time graphics pipeline concepts.

**Public Compensation:**
$130,000/year to $180,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
