Our weapons cover a huge range of styles including modern military, fantasy, sci-fi, anime, horror, whimsical, etc. As such, strong skills in both hard surface and organic design are a must.
Your Mission
* Create concept art for weapons and other items - ranging from loose exploration models / sketches all the way to full rendered designs.
* Provide feedback and help solve problems in designs from vendors and other artists
* Work in team environment to brainstorm ideas and directions for weapons, characters, etc.
* Work closely with other members of the weapons team to meet technical and functional requirements.
* Work closely with Art Directors and Lead Artists to ensure strong visual appeal.
To succeed you should have…
* 3+ Years experience in the games or film industry making weapons
* Expert knowledge in common 3D software such as Blender, Zbrush, 3DS Max etc to facilitate concept creation.
* Demonstrates an understanding of industrial design principles and how to apply them to weapons.
* Demonstrates strong 3D modeling abilities as well as rendering, graphic design and iconography.
* Need a strong sense of material surfaces and ability to communicate that visually.
* Excellent understanding of mechanical function and purpose.
* Self-managing and able to identify and meet deadlines and goals.
* Fast and organized at researching and reference gathering.
* Excellent attention to design, detail, form and function.
* Must be a team player and collaborate with others.
* Have excellent communication skills and ability to work one on one, in groups, and with multiple departments and different personalities, always being proactive.
* Possess the ability to take direction and feedback from the team as well as contribute ideas. Understands the artwork is functional to the game, has game play relevance and implications, and needs to clearly communicate to the team of its intended goals.
* Must be willing to go above and beyond what's expected to ensure the absolute best quality is achieved.
* Ability to learn new tools quickly and effectively.
* Must have a portfolio of work for consideration. Web based portfolios are preferred please.
We'd love it if you also have...
* Understanding and knowledge of existing firearms and how they function.
* Ability to create production game assets if / when needed, including high poly, low poly, baked maps, materials, etc.
* Strong knowledge of First Person Shooters and how weapon design relates to the gameplay experience.
* Experience working in a live game environment, and or with MTX content
* Flexibility to step in and help the team and project where needed regardless of job description or title.
