What We Need:
Our Novato studio is looking for an UI Artist to contribute to the highly successful NBA 2K franchise! In this role, you will apply your traditional art training and knowledge of illustration, graphic design, and computer graphics software to help build a visually compelling and user-friendly interface.
What You Will Do:
Create and implement high-quality UI assets that align with the game's art direction
Work closely with a team of UI Designers and engineers to integrate UI assets into the game engine using Maya and proprietary development tools
Contribute to the development of motion graphics and visual effects that elevate the overall user experience
Participate in design reviews, provide and incorporate feedback based on playtest
Who Will Be A Great Fit:
2+ years crafting commercial user interface designs, ideally for large-scale or AAA titles
Familiarity with 3D software such as Maya, Cinema 4D, or other industry-standard 3D rendering tools and plugins.
Experience working with modern game engine (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) and implementing UI assets within them
Experience with industry standard 2D graphics applications and prototyping tools used in UI (Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma etc.)
Strong understanding of UI/UX principles, composition, color theory and visual hierarchy
Awareness of current trends in UI design, tools and technologies to continuously improve quality and efficiency
Proven ability to work with a high degree of self-direction
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Experience in creating motion graphics
Experience with Perforce
Love for games (not just ours!)
Bonus Points:
Shipped at least one AAA console project
Experience on multi-sku, multi resolution console and PC projects
Knowledge of the NBA brand and style

This is a role that can be remote and may be based anywhere in the United States. Below are the expected salary and wage ranges for applicants based in locations where the pay transparency law is in effect: California: $38 - $50 per hour. New York State (inclusive of New York City): $32 - $46 per hour. Washington: $38 - $50 per hour. New Jersey: $32 - $46 per hour. British Columbia: $30 - $40 (CAD) per hour. Base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. ILM's Groom team works alongside our Digital Model Shop (DMS) and Creature teams to create hair, fur and feather grooms for characters, creatures, costume and props as part of the Creature / Character pipeline for high-end VFX projects.

What You'll Do
* Build assets either fully or partially covered in hair, fur or feathers using Houdini
* Collaborate with the Groom leadership, Modeling, Texture, Look Development and VFX Supervisor to identify and build the "look" for an asset
* Work with production and show leadership to deliver high quality assets on time that meet all departments needs
* Present you work in dailies and discuss all aspects of your asset as needed
* Use your groom abilities for other non-character assets such as props or costumes
What We're Looking For
* Portfolio demonstrating great groom skills, displaying a strong understanding of hair, fur and feather types and character design
* Proven experience crafting digital creatures and characters in a VFX studio environment. Additional animation experience is a plus
* Phenomenal creative and interpersonal skills to work with team members from other departments, assist asset development, and displaying the ability to interpret others vision while also showcase their own ideas
* Excellent time management skills with the capability of sharing your time between multiple shows when needed
* Strong ability to self assess if you are taking the right approach, while also understanding when you should be contacting supervision or other departments for help or to discuss approach
* A deep knowledge of film and video post production techniques and a good understanding of the full VFX pipeline
* Strong knowledge of Houdini, ability to trouble shoot complex issues and help drive development. Vex knowledge a plus
* Knowledge of LINUX is a necessity to navigate through ILM's production pipeline
The hiring range for this position in San Francisco, CA is $64,300 to $148,870 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
