Student employees will support the Theater & Dance department's productions, specifically in the areas of technical production, as required by a specific production's needs. Work is done in the Kaleidoscope's scene shop, Lenfest Theater, and Blackbox Studio Theater, under the direct supervision of the Theater & Dance department's Technical Director & Production Manager. Schedule may vary weekly. Shop hours are typically scheduled in the mornings and afternoons during the week. Some evening and weekend hours will likely be required during a production's load in period and tech weekend. Typical work week may average between 12 and 20 hours. Responsibilities: Assist in the fabrication, painting, install, maintenance, and strike of Scenic Production elements. Learn and practice a variety of skills (depending on the needs of the production) including scenic carpentry, props construction, metalworking, scenic painting, costume maintenance, and theatrical rigging. The position involves hands-on work with several novel strains of mice, the preparation and administration of experimental treatments, tissue processing, and general laboratory support.
