    Shift: Daylight, Monday - Friday in McCandless CT department Purpose: To support staff technologists and other departmental staff in the daily provision of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and CT services. Under the direct supervisor of the certified technologist at all times, assists and supports the provision of MRI and CT services to our patients. Responsibilities: * Meets patients as they arrive to department. Assists with paperwork preparation and documentation. Answers phone calls regarding scheduling, questions and patient history. Escorts patients to dressing areas and assists the patient as needed. Conducts MRI screening according to established procedures to ensure safe scanning and entrance into the MRI scan room and provides completed screening form to technologist for review. Assists with lifting and transferring patients to and from exam tables as needed. Establishes IV access (e.g. for contrast administration) according to established procedures. Assists technologist in the preparation of oral contrast for patients and provides patient instructions as needed under the direction of the technologist in alignment with existing department guidelines. * Properly pads, positions, centers and aligns the patient and MRI coil or CT table for proper imaging of the body part according to established protocols under the technologist's direction. Performs telemetry monitoring during exam as necessary if applicable to the business unit, provides patient care support as needed. Provides discharge instructions as directed by the technologist. Reports any equipment malfunctions to technologist and supervisor. Assists in the performance of QC functions including all daily and weekly QC testing according to departmental guidelines. Transport patients to and from the unit when required.? Clean and prepare exam room following established procedures. Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent. * At least one-year of previous healthcare experience. * Medical terminology and recent medical/imaging office experience preferred. IV insertion experience preferred. The specialist will work directly with graduate program directors, faculty, and students in the Joanne Barkett Conway Simulation Center and undergraduate faculty and students in the Libermann Learning and Simulation Center as they prepare residency and simulation experiences for students. Key to the position is the desire and ability to competently support the technological needs of the high-tech areas of the simulation labs. This position is responsible for managing the technical operations of the simulation lab and assist with educational technology in the SON which includes operating and maintaining all simulation lab technology, computers, simulation manikins, cameras, microphones and recording equipment. The specialist will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving technical problems associated with existing hardware, software applications, people, and new technology solutions needed to make the SON technology environment a leading-edge space and user-friendly environment for students, faculty and staff. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist on-site and be present before and during all simulation scenarios to provide instruction, setup, assistance, and troubleshooting when needed. Ability to solely run simulation scenarios and communicate with clinical faculty and students if necessary. Design, implement, and manage various educational technologies, on-line testing, task training devices, computer assisted instructional tools in the skills laboratory to directly support teaching, learning, practice, and assessment of clinical competencies. Collaborate and assist faculty with planning, preparing, and conducting simulated activities, residencies, and related events. Provide technical support for clinical simulation lab technology. Maintain computers used in clinical situations, manikin control, and debriefing. Perform regular software updates and maintenance on a scheduled basis to maintain equipment in proper working order. Operate audio/video recording and streaming systems for lab simulation. Set up control room computers, configure sim and VR/AR equipment, position cameras and provide instruction to clinical faculty. Provide technical support for hardware and software before, during and after lab simulations. Report missing or damaged equipment, contact vendors for additional technology troubleshooting, repairs, and warranty service. Oversee efficient operations of the learning laboratories by maintaining supplies and equipment as needed. Prepare for simulation and residency experiences with equipment set-up, preparation of rooms, anticipate equipment, and general needs. Be attentively present and flexible during lab activity events. Completes other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Minimum qualifications: Knowledge of technologies related to direct patient care and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. Clinically-current registered nurse, paramedic, or related health profession. Must anticipate technology environmental changes and be forward-thinking. Preferred qualifications: Strong technology support background. Emergency medicine paramedic (NREMT-P) or Nursing (Associate, Diploma, BSN) or Health Professions related degree with strong clinical background. Currently licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in related Health Profession or as a Registered Nurse. CHSE Certification.
