1994

In 1994, Shuji Nakamura invented the ultra-bright blue LEDs that served as the foundation for today’s common commercial LEDs.

1998

The Consumer Electronics Association (formerly the Consumer Electronics Manufacturing Association) reported in 1998 that the number of consumer electronic devices in the country was estimated at 1.6 billion, with annual sales exceeding $80 billion.

2000

The merger announced by AOL and Time Warner in 2000 lends further support to the fact that the boundaries within the various communication-related industries have been obliterated.
