Role Purpose:

As a scientist and technical expert in the team, you will primarily be responsible for understanding and interpreting the toxicology data requirements for crop protection products. You will apply the principles and scientific methodologies of toxicology to design toxicity studies, monitor the study conduct, and interpret/review study results to prepare study reports in compliance with regulatory guidelines and GLP requirements in support of regulatory submissions
Accountabilities
Provide technical expertise in toxicology to support Crop Protection chemical research, product development, and maintenance of current registrations.
Use both existing regulatory guideline studies and novel approaches to assess the potential toxicity of new and existing Syngenta active ingredients.
Independently apply your knowledge and experiences to plan, design, coordinate, monitor, interpret, and report toxicity studies conducted by CROs in compliance with all safety, regulatory and GLP requirements. This will be done by liaising directly with staff in Toxicology, part of the overall Human Safety Team (e.g., subject matter experts and committees) as well as other functions such as Global and Regional Registrations and business teams.
Provide technical expertise in identifying, solving, and managing a variety of technical issues or challenges within responsible areas, and be able to optimize relevant processes to eliminate significant inefficiencies
Be able to understand and communicate complex technical issues with stakeholders and provide expert inputs and/or prepare technical documents in response to questions from regulatory authorities.
Manage discrete projects in toxicology relating to Syngenta products including data generation, reviews of existing data, assessment of risk assessment endpoints and classification requirements, literature reviews and providing technical recommendations to project teams. Ensures projects are properly specified, reviewed, and delivered on time and meet stakeholder needs.
Work to be recognized as a subject matter expert internally among cross-function colleagues and externally within industry and scientific forums/societies
