Key Duties

Execute the following tasks with direction from senior engineering resources:
* The application of specialized test instrumentation including but not limited to strain gages, accelerometers, magnetic pick-ups, optical tip timing probes and capacitance (clearance) probes
* The routing of specialized test sensors at the component-level and throughout assembly for development test turbo-shaft and turbo-fan engines
* Test instrumentation wire terminations at the component and module levels during assembly and within the test facility throughout engine setup
* End-to-end signal quality checks of test instrumentation completed at various times during assembly and during engine setup
* Use of various glues, epoxies, heat guns, spot weld, soldering, microscopes and oven operations to apply and route specialize test instrumentation
* Fabrication or assembly of cables, harnesses and set up of other data recording equipment needed to support development engine testing
* Complete terminations of instrumentation in ground-based aircraft engine test cells, perform end-to-end continuity checks and setups of high-speed data recording equipment
* Support maintenance initiatives of lab equipment used for instrumentation applications
* Perform basic electro / mechanical mathematical function conversions
* Application of Ohms Law principals
* Remain compliant with Engine Assembly Quality initiatives to ensure safe and successful engine tests
* Remain compliant with Environmental Health & Safety initiatives at Assembly and Test Facilities

Your Impact
Onshape's Assembly development team develops tools for Assembly design in Onshape. Using these tools, users can precisely assemble CAD bodies and animate motion, do interference detection, make exploded views and many more. As an intern, you will assist in adding and enhancing functionalities to this area.
Your Team
As an intern, you are given the opportunity to work on end-user functionality with the goal of releasing the new functionality before the end of the internship. You will be paired with a mentor to learn the development processes and system architecture within Onshape. With their guidance you will work with other teams in R&D to specify the new functionality and implement it within Onshape's code base.
Your Day-to-Day:
Communicating with members of R&D (QA/UX) to understand the details of new functionality to be implemented
Coding and debugging new functionality. This will primarily include front-end development in TypeScript and back-end development in Java, but may also include coding in C++Periodically checking in with your mentor to communicate progress and roadblocks
Participating in code reviews to refine any code before it is merged into the code base
Basic Qualifications:
Strong Problem-Solving Skills.
Solid understanding of fundamental computer science principles for optimized and scalable coding solutions.
Proficiency in at least one Object Oriented programming languages such as Java, C++.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with teams and stakeholders.
Eagerness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies, tools, and techniques.
