Department Department of Scientific Computing | Florida State University College of Arts & Sciences Responsibilities This position is responsible for providing technical support for department computers, printers, and classroom technology in the Department of Scientific Computing.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
* Providing user-support of equipment throughout the department, including desktops, workstations, and the various labs. This support includes software installation and hardware maintenance.
* Maintaining and modifying VLAN assignments of port, network access control, and other security-related issues for network equipment.
* Mentoring and training student workers assigned to system administration tasks.
* Assisting in the operational management of the computing facilities in the department.
* Assisting in the development of new or improved instructional and research technologies.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience. (Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to four years.)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains network security through the maintenance of user credentials in Active directory.
Installs and sets up physical desktops, virtual desktops, laptops and mobile devices. This includes both Windows and Apple devices. Provides basic troubleshooting and operational support.
Resolves desktop, laptop and mobile devices issues including data backup, recovery and operational support. Includes Air watch system to track and manage mobile devices.
In addition to the PCs and servers, this position handles all of the moves and changes on the telephone switch, and the Call Pilot messaging system. Acts as telephony hardware/software subject matter expert.
Performs regular preventative maintenance on all PC level equipment.
Provides training, as necessary, in the use of specialized computer equipment.
Prepares computers to go into service, including re-imaging, changing peripherals as necessary, and installation of the machine in the user area.
Creates, builds and oversees virtual pools.
Maintains the messaging system, and voice mailboxes, and provide training as required.
Works with the Network Administrator to provide the FCCU staff with an Internet & E-Mail product that is productive, safe and properly secures the information of the Membership.
Other Responsibilities:
Performs job duties in accordance with policies established by the Board of Directors under the rules and regulations set by the National Credit Union Administration, the State of Florida, and any applicable State laws for financial centers located in other States.
Complies with Reg E, BSA, OFAC, and CIP requirements such as reporting suspicious or unusual activity to manager.

The Future Computing Technologies Group (FCT) at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is seeking Ph.D. Interns for this fall with a strong background in distributive quantum computing, quantum computing architecture, numerical simulation of quantum systems, quantum networking, and/or quantum error correction.
The candidate will be expected to contribute to world-leading research as part of PNNL within its US Dept. of Energy funded projects. The candidate will be expected to collaborate closely with laboratory personnel in computing and application domains, as well as researchers at collaborating national laboratories, universities, and industry partners on center activities focused on the development, application, benchmarking, compilation, and optimization of quantum architecture and software.
