What Does A Technical Machine Operator Do At Trinity Industries, Inc.

* Manipulate both manual and CNC machines to produce & test small metal samples according to drawing, customer request, and appropriate specifications.
* This task is accomplished while adhering to work instructions and safety requirements related to the position.
* Applies acquired job skills and company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks
* Works on assignments that are semi-routine in nature, where analysis and actions require review of various factors
* Ability to recognize the need for deviation from accepted practice when required
* Effectively sets up and operates most Machine Shop Equipment.
* Performs preventive maintenance, adds lubricants, coolants, & fluids to equipment as necessary.
* Ensures proper sample identification.
* Loads and tests sample material.
* Performs general housekeeping and clean-up of assigned equipment and work areas.
* Performs transcription and data entry into the Laboratory Information Management System.
* Documents result data and test findings.
* Demonstrates excellent attention to detail.
* Demonstrates knowledge of common materials and their properties.
* Reads and understands basic engineering drawings &/or specifications
* Demonstrates knowledge of shop math
* Sets up and operates common and unique jobs.
* Moderate understanding of the technical aspects of the job
* Limited judgment calls
* Serves as team member

* Learn the assigned equipment type, setup, operation, basic maintenance functions.
* Provide training for other operators and be front line support to operations.
* Preview job order and inspect incoming jobs to prepare for adequate performance on the machine.
* Assure that operators have all necessary supplies to continually run there equipment.
* Fill out all paperwork properly (Audit sheets, Pull sheets, Remake slips, etc.).
* Record material usage transactions accurately.
