  • Technical Project Manager

    Ingenuiti

Technical product manager job in Virginia Beach, VA

Job Title: Technical Project Manager/Localization Engineer - must live near Virginia Beach! We are looking for a technically-minded, highly analytical Technical Project Manager to join our team in Virginia Beach, VA. This is a unique hybrid role designed for a "builder" and a "fixer." You will manage the end-to-end lifecycle of translation projects while simultaneously serving as the technical architect for our workflows. You don't need a background in linguistics, but you must be someone who enjoys deconstructing complex files, automating repetitive tasks, and finding "the better way" to do things through technology and critical thinking. Key Responsibilities 1. Technical Engineering & Solutions File Architecture: Analyze and prepare complex file types (XML, JSON, HTML, PO, etc.) for translation, ensuring code remains intact and localizable content is exposed. Workflow Automation: Identify bottlenecks in our current processes and implement scripts or tools (e.g., Python, Regex, or API integrations) to streamline data movement. Platform Mastery: Become the power-user of our Translation Management Systems (TMS), configuring project settings, Translation Memories, and Terminology Bases. Multimedia Engineering: Deconstruct eLearning packages (SCORM/xAPI) to extract translatable content from slides, quizzes, and variables while maintaining the integrity of the original triggers and animations. Multilingual Testing: Perform functional testing of localized courses to ensure that translated text fits within UI boundaries (avoiding "text swell") and that interactive elements function correctly in the target language. Troubleshooting: Assist with technical support for translators and clients when file imports fail or software bugs arise. 2. Technical Project Management Project Lifecycle: Lead projects from kickoff to delivery, managing schedules, budgets, and vendor assignments. Critical Problem Solving: Anticipate risks before they happen. If a client sends 50,000 words in a messy format, you are the one who figures out how to process it efficiently. Quality Engineering: Implement automated QA checks to ensure technical integrity and linguistic consistency across all deliverables. The Ideal Candidate You are a great fit if: You are "Tech-Curious": You might not be a Software Engineer, but you aren't afraid of a command line, you understand how APIs work, and you can write a Regular Expression (Regex) to find a needle in a haystack. You think in Systems: When you see a manual task, your first instinct is to ask, "How can I automate this?" You are a Documentation Hawk: You believe that if a process isn't documented, it doesn't exist. You are an Expert Communicator: You can explain a complex technical bug to a non-technical client or translator without using jargon. Required Skills & Qualifications Technical Literacy: Proficiency with data formats (JSON, XML, YAML) and basic scripting/coding logic. Analytical Mindset: Proven ability to troubleshoot software issues and think through "if/then" scenarios. Authoring Tool Familiarity: Experience (or a strong desire to learn) the backend of eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline 360, Rise, or Adobe Captivate. DTP/Layout Awareness: An eye for design and layout, specifically regarding how different languages (like German or Arabic) impact the visual flow of an eLearning slide. Project Management: Experience managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment (LSP experience is a plus, but not required). Software Savvy: Advanced Excel skills (formulas, macros, data cleaning) and a quick ability to learn new SaaS tools. Why Join Us? You won't just be moving files; you will be building the infrastructure that allows our company to scale. We value critical thinkers who challenge the status quo and provide the autonomy to implement new technical solutions.

You'll own the Billing/Invoicing and Project Planning domains, responsible for defining what we build, why it matters, and ensuring we deliver meaningful value to our customers. With the fast-changing AI landscape, we're looking for someone who can evaluate and incorporate AI capabilities thoughtfully into our product roadmap. The ideal candidate will understand how to apply AI technologies to solve real business problems-distinguishing between genuine productivity gains and superficial "AI washing." This is an opportunity to shape how project-based businesses manage their most critical workflows. You'll partner closely with UX and Engineering in an environment where AI assists with drafting, coding, and testing-which means your job is less about writing exhaustive documentation and more about making sharp decisions, understanding customer problems deeply, and collaborating in real-time with your team. This role has a functional focus on Billing & Invoicing, Project Accounting and Project Management, with responsibility for understanding customer needs, defining product capabilities, and partnering with UX and Engineering to deliver modern, intuitive, and intelligent experiences for small and mid-sized AEC organizations. Responsibilities Own and define product capabilities by translating client needs into clear requirements and acceptance criteria, driving implementation through the development lifecycle Write concise, outcome-focused specifications that provide full context to Engineering and UX without bureaucratic overhead Identify high-value use cases for AI in billing and project planning workflows, ensuring AI capabilities deliver genuine productivity gains for customers Collaborate closely with UX and Engineering teams in real-time, participating in working sessions where decisions are made and implemented together Work with key stakeholders across the organization to define and prioritize requirements for new capabilities and enhancements Validate assumptions with real customers, synthesize feedback, and ensure we're solving problems that matter to AE firms Verify features against acceptance criteria throughout development, providing timely feedback to keep work on track Prioritize bug backlog with engineering leads and manage customer ideas and feedback Create release readiness content and actively participate in product launches to gauge user adoption Demonstrate real-world product ownership beyond task coordination-impacting product innovation, capability scope, and usability Qualifications Required: 4-6 years of product management or related experience Domain experience in one or more of: accounting software, billing/invoicing systems, project management tools, or professional services Experience defining or managing AI-powered product features Demonstrated ability to identify high-value use cases for AI in business workflows Technical comfort-able to engage with engineering on architecture and feasibility discussions Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision making Proven success building strong working relationships with cross-functional teams Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with both business and technical stakeholders Strong problem-solving skills to research options and decide on best path forward Experience operating with autonomy, minimal supervision, and latitude for independent judgment Preferred: Experience with ERP software-using, implementing, or designing Accounting or project management domain knowledge Experience with Agile processes (though we operate with a modern, continuous-flow approach rather than traditional Scrum) Experience managing the complete product development lifecycle What We're Looking For We want a self-starter who produces results with minimal direction but is also a team player who quickly builds internal relationships. You should be comfortable with ambiguity, energized by moving fast, and excited about working in an environment where AI augments how we build products. Above all, you must love what you do. This will be a fast-paced and at times intense role, involving collaboration with internal and external product experts where you'll be expected to use your product management expertise to navigate teams toward successful product development.
