The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs. The Project Manager will be primarily responsible for managing cross-functional teams, coordinating software and hardware development projects, and ensuring timely and quality project delivery across the Command-and-Control Directorate. This role requires a deep understanding of both software and hardware processes, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills. We are looking for a skilled Senior Software and Hardware Project Manager to oversee the development and delivery of our cutting-edge products from concept to completion. Responsibilities Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to: Perform the essential duties of Project Management to provide oversight and assist in managing all aspects of a project to include budget forecasting and work estimation. Utilize Project Management skills and experience in the management of Project Performance, Scope, Schedule, Budget, Risks, and Change Management. Demonstrate understanding of project scheduling development and resource loading to capture all work performed in executing the project lifecycle. Assist with the preparation of Project artifacts to include, but not limited to, project planning artifacts, project status reports, project briefs, etc. Schedule, facilitate, and document Project Team meetings. Exercise extensive participation in management planning; continuously demonstrates effort to improve overall operations; restructure immediate and long-range goals, objectives, and plans. Perform other related duties as assigned. The candidate must possess a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in computer or system science, information technology, engineering, or related discipline from an accredited institution , and at least ten (10) years of direct progressive project management experience in software and hardware development and operations environments. Additional relevant education may substitute a portion of the required experience. Job Requirements PMP or other relevant project management certification highly desired. Proven track record of successfully managing large, complex projects, spanning multiple teams from start to finish as evidence by prior experiences. Strong expertise in project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.), principles, and tools (JIRA, MS Project, etc.). Deep understanding of software development lifecycles and hardware manufacturing processes. Experience in hardware/software development, systems engineering and project management in an Aerospace environment highly desirable. Exceptional leadership, communication, presentation, and organizational skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels. Demonstrated experience working with embedded systems, IoT, and integrated software-hardware products is highly desirable. Ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment across multiple projects, while meeting or exceeding schedule expectations as well as maintaining superior product delivery. Must be able to coordinate work between multiple project disciplines. Must be self-motivated, demonstrate initiative, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Physical Requirements May be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shooting. Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other associated personal protective equipment. Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing. Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures. Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency. Work Environment May be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex. Position may require individual to travel daily to different areas on site. Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand, may be required to access various locations on the facility. Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary. All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and company safety standards. Equipment and Machines Computers and printers used for producing reports and schedules. Variety of equipment used in testing. Attendance Full-time work hours. Position may require occasional overtime, including weekend work, depending on task. Must be dependable and punctual. Shift work may be required. Other Essential Functions Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication. Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
