This is a very visible, significant role within the company and the technical service function. This position will report to Sr. Staff Scientist.The candidate must have a good scientific background through education and experience. The candidate will be involved with customer-driven technical service projects and key account activity support of Ashland's product line/capabilities. Candidate will work in the newly formed US applications team in Personal Care.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Formulate prototypes of various personal care products (Hair, Skin, Oral and Home Care) for customers.Troubleshoot formulation issues when necessary Work with support groups and the sales team to drive projects forward Develop new applications on existing raw materials Interface/collaborate with local customers Work within NA Customer Service team projects to meet customer needs/market trends Evaluate pre-launch technologies for application.Develop methods to demonstrate raw material benefits.Present Ashland technologies at NA customers when needed.Actively contribute to the organizational goals by taking initiative, executing on goals and focusing on performance and safety Improve the organization capacity and capabilities through building collaborative relationships, optimizing diverse talent and utilizing positive communications and influence with others

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
Minimum of 5 years hands-on formulation experience and track record of launching new products within the skin hair and personal care market.B.S. or M.S. in an associated field of study Must possess formulation knowledge/experience in skin, and hair, (aerosol would be a plus).Creative in developing novel prototypes to explore new skin and hair care applications/benefits Basic knowledge of the chemistry, and consumer benefits of personal care raw materials.Good presentation skills.Excellent communication skills, excellent work ethic and positive attitude.Familiar with project management and works well in a team environment.Good analytical/troubleshooting skills Demonstrated responsible and ethical behavior at all times The ability to help the company drive greater value through understanding the business, making complex decisions and creating the new and different

Job DescriptionBlueSphere Bio was founded to deploy its novel TCXpress technology to unlock the potential of personalized T cell therapy for the treatment of cancer by harnessing the unique specificity of each patient’s T cells for the molecular fingerprint of each patient’s cancer.

Our trailblazing, proprietary TCXpress platform is an elegant, rapid approach that exploits the patient’s immune defenses to attack their cancer specifically and is designed to leave normal tissues untouched, thereby reducing harmful side effects.

The TCXpress platform and its implementation will deliver rapid, personalized T cell treatments for various cancer indications.
Purpose

We are seeking an exceptionally talented and highly motivated Scientist with deep knowledge in molecular Biology, Gene-Specific knock-down, and knock-in via Homologous Directed Repair (HDR) using CRISPR/Cas9 and sister technologies to join a growing team in the Research and Discovery Team at Bluesphere Bio. This position aims to develop an effective process and technology to express TCR-T gene products via a non-viral approach in autologous and allogeneic primary T cells. The ideal candidate will have an extensive and proven track record in molecular biology in CRISPR/Cas9 and related technology to target and express cargo from endogenous loci in primary cells. Candidates from academia and industry with proven records of advancing projects in this field will be considered. The position involves the supervision of an associate and one lab tech commensurate with experience level. Excellent communication and leadership skills are required. The candidate is expected to report regularly to their supervisor and other colleagues within the BSB Research and Discovery team, meet fast-paced deadlines, and mentor junior colleagues.


Duties and Responsibilities
Design and conduct experiments to evaluate non-viral targeting of gene loci in primary T cells and other cells using various gene editing technologies and methods of delivery to enhance recombination and expression. Develop non-viral TCR-T gene product candidates for personalized T cell immunotherapies against cancer and other diseases. Perform PCR, qPCR, Sanger Sequencing, and other routine molecular biology methods. Collaborate with other BSB scientists to advance new technologies and participate in patent writing. Clearly communicate, present, and defend critical activities to upper management for successful program progression. Define critical path activities to complete essential projects required to meet key corporate objectives in a timeline fashion. Manage and mentor current and future scientists. Other duties as assigned



Qualifications and Work Experience
Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Immunology, Oncology, or related field with 0-2+ years of postgraduate experience. Ph.D. graduates with strong publication records and skillsets will be considered and strongly encouraged to apply. In depth knowledge in gene-editing technology, including CRISPR/Cas9, and other technologies, including Talens/Zinc-Finger, with an emphasis on non-viral methods of gene delivery as well as other advanced molecular biology techniques, including cloning and gene expression systems in eukaryotic and bacterial cells with a strong publication in a record in the field is required. Previous experience with animals transgenics will be considered. Basic bioinformatic analysis and high-throughput screens are a plus. Proven skills in primary mammalian cell culture, including T cells and other hemopoietic and non-hemopoietic cells, is highly desired. Basic flow cytometry and activated fluorescence cell sorting are a plus but not required. Cell based assay development, cell culture of cell lines, and assay development. Excellent verbal and writing skills. Management experience is desired but not required.

• Lead and assist in all technical process enhancements and ancillary activities such as but not limited to: Process and equipment validation, implementation of new equipment, changes to existing manufacturing process, etc. This duty is performed weekly, about 30% of the time.
• Lead and assist in demonstration/scale up/pilot batch manufacture, engineering studies, equipment upgrades, etc. This duty is performed weekly, about 30% of the time.
• Identify and suggest process, equipment and efficiency improvements in the operational area. This duty is performed weekly, about 20% of the time.
• Prepare and present training presentations for technical training of operations personnel. This duty is performed weekly, about 20% of the time.
• Review executed batch documentation as needed. This duty is performed weekly, about 10% of the time.
• Work in multi-functional teams (Validation, QA, QC, SCM) to enhance and facilitate overall operational success. This duty is performed weekly, about 50% of the time.
• Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Four year technical degree (I.E. bachelors) or equivalent experience required. In such fields such as engineering, science (Chemistry, Biology), etc, plus 7 years Pharmaceutical manufacturing experience and/or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. Oral liquid pharmaceutical experience preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and understand common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents; Ability to respond to complex or difficult inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
