1900
The Cataloging and Metadata Management Section CaMMS dates from 1900 when the Cataloging Section of ALA was founded.
1929
The Continuing Resources Section has its origins in the Serials Round Table formed in 1929.
1948
In 1948 the committee changed its name to Committee on Photo-Duplication and Multiple Copying Methods.
1951
The Acquisitions Section was formed from the Board on Acquisition of Library Materials, created in 1951.
1957
The Association for Library Collections Technical Services ALCTS has been a division of the American Library Association since 1957, when the Resources and Technical Services Division RTSD was formed from the merger of several ALA units with common interests.
1973
In 1973 the Resources Section was formed by the merger of the RTSD Resources Committee and the Acquisition Section.
1979
In 1979, with a degree in Engineering, Larry left GE Medical and officially incorporated LMS. During its inception year LMS concentrated on the servicing and support of medical equipment services.
1980
Over the course of the early 1980 s LMS started to move over to super micro multi user computers and was hired as the Northeast Service provider for all of Alpha Micro Computers, servicing clients all-over the Eastern Seaboard.
In 1980, the original four sections were joined by the Preservation of Library Materials Sections, in recognition of the growing awareness and knowledge of preservation issues.
1989
In 1989, the membership of RTSD voted to change the name of the division to ALCTS.
1990
As technology continued to change in the late 1990 s, around the time that Larry s wife Bobbie Shulman joined the company, internet and networking became a necessity for businesses to connect locations to one another and to reach their customers.
1991
In 1991, the Resources Section changed its name to Acquisition of Library Materials Section and some of its committees were assigned to a newly formed Collection Management and Development Section.
1992
In 1992, the section again adopted the name Acquisitions Section.
1994
100 101 . In 1994, the section merged with the Preservation of Library Materials Section to form the Preservation and Reformatting Section PARS .
1997
1997 NorthWind Technical Services, LLC was established by Mike and Marlene Bosworth in their home outside of Sabetha, Kansas.
1999
1999 NorthWind began offering automation system solutions and moved into a small office space in downtown Sabetha and control panels for the automation systems were constructed in the Bosworth s garage at their home.
2000
The next evolution for LMS occurred in the mid 2000 s, as an early adopter of Managed Services.
2001
2001 The company s first full time employee was hired.
2003
2003 A new 5,000 sq. ft. office and panel shop was constructed in the Sabetha industrial Park for the growing business.
2011
The Cataloging and Classification Section changed its name to CaMMS in July 2011.
2012
2012 A major expansion added 2,600 sq. ft. of space that included a test lab, lunch room, and additional office space for a growing number of employees.
2014
2014 NorthWind expanded for a second time, adding another 3,250 sq. ft. to the facility s panel shop and warehouse area.
2016
LMS welcomed Larry s second son-in-law, Michael Zimmerman, who joined the company in 2016 as Director of Business Services.
2017
2017 A third expansion will provides additional space for control panel fabrication and personnel.
2019
2019 NorthWind opens Latin America Office located in Costa Rica.
A second location was established in San Jose, Costa Rica in June of 2019 in order to better serve customers in Latin America.
