Requirements
The Aerial Application Specialist will be responsible for operating drones for various purposes, including aerial spray applications, photography, surveying, mapping, surveillance, and data collection. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with local aviation regulations, planning and coordinating flight missions, collecting, and analyzing data, performing equipment maintenance, and adhering to safety protocols.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Flight Operations:
Operate drones for various purposes, including aerial spray applications, photography, surveying, mapping, surveillance, and data collection.
Conduct pre-flight checks on equipment to ensure proper functionality.
Plan and coordinate flight missions, considering weather conditions, airspace restrictions, and safety protocols.
Data Collection and Analysis:
Use specialized equipment to capture images, video, or other data according to project requirements.
Process and analyze data collected during flights for reporting or further action.
Equipment Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance on drones and associated equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Troubleshoot and address technical issues that may arise during operations.
Communication:
Coordinate with ground teams, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication during flight operations.
Provide updates on mission progress and report any issues promptly.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of flight logs, maintenance activities, and any incidents or deviations from standard procedures.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements regarding documentation.
Training and Certification:
Stay current with relevant certifications and licenses required for drone piloting.
Train and educate other team members or clients on drone operation protocols.
Customer Relations:
Interact with clients to understand project requirements and provide updates on the status of drone operations.
Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality and accurate data.
Safety and Compliance
Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations, including FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) rules and relevant environmental and chemical handling guidelines.
Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date with federal, state, and local regulations related to aerial application operations, and ensure all activities are compliant.
Uphold all cooperative policies
Attending all employee safety meetings, etc. held as required or scheduled in conjunction with Safety Director or location.
Other Duties
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Receive favorable feedback from all department managers when assigned to perform or assist with other duties and responsibilities in those departments.
Attitude consistently mirrors the company image and promotes fellow employee teamwork.
Present a professional image through words, actions, and personal appearance.
Basic Qualifications:
FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, equivalent certification based on local regulations or be able to obtain the certification within the first 30 days of employment
FAA Class 2 medical exam and/or obtain one within 30 days of start of employment
Commercial Pesticide Applicators License or must be able to obtain within first 45 days of employment
Proficient in drone flight software and navigation systems.
Strong understanding of aviation regulations and safety procedures.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Background knowledge in the following areas: Precision Ag, in-cab monitors, Farm Management Software, and/or past drone flight experience.
Class A CDL license or must be able to successfully complete the Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) when required
Ability to work long seasonal hours in changing weather conditions
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Basic knowledge of aviation safety regulations and agricultural best practices.
