The focus of our worldwide activities is on the development and implementation of customized technology and system solutions for surface treatment **We are looking for a Technical Service Specialist to join our Chemetall team to cover the Central, KY area.** As a Technical Service Specialist (TSS) you will have responsibility that leads and coordinates all technical, purchasing, inventory, reporting activities, manage assigned projects, and respond to customer needs and complaints for our customer accounts within your territory. This position offers an incentive bonus plan, company car, laptop, phone, and all travel expenses covered by the company; daily travel with occasional overnights within your territory. **As a Technical Service Specialist (ECT-Chemetall), you create chemistry by...** + Being the first in line for technical support with customers; providing in-depth technical service to key customers. + Fostering a Safety mindset acting as a safety ambassador for your customers. + Completing all required BASF compliance trainings, complete and pass all required technical training utilizing the BASF / Chemetall CL3 platform, in person live training and adjacent technical seminars. + Training of plant personnel, line audits, startup of new processes, troubleshooting problems, continuous improvement, coordination of test work being done for the plant and participating in plant functions, such as system clean outs, team audit meetings, process analysis, and inventory management where necessary. + Planning service visits with the purpose of bringing value to the customer (not just pinks and blues). The goal is to develop and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders. + Communicating with a written service report utilizing clear purpose driven comments of action items and findings. Loading service reports Salesforce and notifying all key stakeholders. + Participating in business reviews to continually reinforce our value proposition while keeping our customers out of the zone of indifference. + Setting up each account with the proper process instructions for the chemical process supplied by BASF / Chemetall. + Educating customers on proper handling of chemicals, reagents, and sample submission procedures. + Assisting & facilitating the installation, troubleshooting and training of proper use of process equipment provided by BASF / Chemetall to the account. + Looking for opportunities to add business whenever possible, to be done in concert with the Technical Sales Representative (our best leads come from our customers). **If you have...** + Bachelors Degree in Chemistry of Chemical Engineering is preferred. + Minimum of 3 years of technical experience with pretreatment, coatings, surface treatment, metalworking and adjacent industry applications is preferred. + Ability to learn new skills and techniques associated with different product applications and chemical programs. (Products include metalworking fluids, paint pretreatment, e-coat, etc.) + Ability to work autonomously, perform job responsibilities, and make consequential decisions without the need for continual direct supervision. + Understanding of the chemical process, knowledge of Manufacturing Plant operations and the importance of safety. + Technical expertise regarding products, specifications, processes, operations, testing, and data collection. + Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills and analytical experience for testing and technical evaluation. + Strong inventory management/control and product ordering is required. + Relationship management experience, building and strengthening relationships with customer's technical department. + Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. + Basic computer skills are required. Position is part-time, 24 hours per week. Position works every Thursday 2d shift from 2:45 - 11:00p, Friday and Saturday 3rd shift from 10:45p - 7:00a.
