Task Description: Aircraft Survival Flight Equipment Technician II, WG-4818-10: This occupation includes jobs involved in disassembling, repairing, testing, troubleshooting, examining, fitting, modifying, maintaining, installing, and determining serviceability of aircraft survival and flight equipment such as helmets, torso harness assemblies, preservers, parachutes, life rafts, chemical and biological protective devices, survival kits, oxygen masks, and anti-G-suits. The work includes operational and circuit checks of emergency signaling and communication devices such as survival radios and beacons. The work requires knowledge of mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance procedures, pyrotechnic and explosive devices, and aircraft egress systems. In addition, the work requires familiarity with aircraft assigned to the unit, detailed knowledge of the operation and characteristics of aircraft survival and flight equipment, and the ability to demonstrate and explain proper usage and operation of the equipment. TASK REQUIREMENTS: Troubleshoots malfunctions on Aircrew Survival Flight Equipment. Performs “O” Level maintenance procedures on pyrotechnic and explosive devices, and aircraft egress systems. Read and interpret manufacturers' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Performs phase, scheduled, unscheduled, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections. Uses chemical sealants. Requisitions repair parts, materials, and consumable supplies through military supply system. Performs general housekeeping and FOD prevention duties. Performs other tasks as directed. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Five (5) or more years' experience as Aircrew Survival Flight Equipment Technician. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Shall have previously completed Aircrew Survival Equipmentmen (PR) “A” School. Personnel performing Aircrew Survival Equipment maintenance and QAR/CDQAR inspections shall be ordnance certified per OPNAVINST 8023.24/MCO 8023.3. Must be able to work 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th shift schedule as required. Must be able work flexible work-week schedules i.e. Mon-Fri, Sun-Thur, Fri-Mon or as required. Must be able to pass a background check. Must satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check Local Records Check and Credit (NACLC) or Access National Agency Check with written Inquiries. Must be able to climb ladders, raised platforms, and aircraft. Must be able to use hand and power tools. Must have dexterity to handle small parts. JOB SUMMARY The Biomethane Instrument Technician performs skilled work that is necessary for maintaining a dairy anaerobic digester, biogas conditioning skid, associated digester, and upgrader plant equipment. The facilities are composed of a digester, pumps, gas blowers, compressors, oxygen generators, condensers, chillers, and related auxiliary equipment. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Inspect, test, adjust, and repair electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and systems used to indicate record, and control generating operations in conventional electric/gas generating plant. Inspect meters, indicators, and gauges to detect abnormal fluctuations. Test accuracy of flowmeters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, gas analyzers, and other recordings, indicating or controlling instruments to locate defective components in the system, using test equipment, such as pressure gauges, pulse, and signal generators, multimeter, HART communicator, and RTD calibrators. Trace out and tests electronic solid-state and vacuum tube circuitry and components to locate defective parts in analog and digital, protection, or monitoring systems, using test equipment, schematics, and maintenance manuals. Remove defective instruments from the system, decontaminates, disassembles, and clean instruments and replace defective parts, using hand tools. Reassembles instruments and replace instruments in the system, using hand tools. Lubricate instruments and replace defective wiring and tubing. Calibrate readings on instruments according to standards and adjust phasing and align stages to ensure accuracy of recording and indicating function. Record calibrations made, parts and components used, and inventory of parts on hand. Prepare schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to reflect changes or alterations made in instruments, circuits, and systems. Additional essential functions, duties and responsibilities may be assigned as required. PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT Performance will be assessed 90 days after initial hire, and then annually after that. Plant Operations will be measured against plant operating efficiency, uptime (reliability), and cost expectations. The successful operator will be measured against adherence to company policy and ability to drive sustained efficiency through personal effort, communication, teamwork, and ability to leverage external resources. Will demonstrate ability to pass the Biomethane Instrument Technician Assessment test with trainer. QUALIFICATIONS Relevant maintenance and operating experience in an industrial or gas processing environment is desired. Operational experience may be supplemented with military experience or training in a related field. A relevant background in safety procedures and practices. Able to quickly respond to rapidly changing conditions. Able to speak, read, write, and understand English is required. Able to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings. Able to analyze and interpret data and to make sound recommendations on plant conditions. Fundamental proficiency in Windows-based applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and CMMS on a PC or tablet required. The Nondestructive Testing technician will independently perform inspections utilizing various NDT techniques seeking corrosion, defects, or detrimental conditions in accordance with specific written criteria. The Technician will perform inspections, interpret indications, and report results per company requirements. The Technician will be able to communicate processes, procedures and results to customers.
