The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on facility systems, production machinery, and building infrastructure. This role supports the Maintenance Lead in ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and reliability of all mechanical and electrical systems within the facility. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who can work independently, follow established safety standards, and keep accurate maintenance records.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine and preventive maintenance on production and facility equipment to minimize downtime.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on machinery.
Conduct facility inspections to identify potential safety or operational hazards and take corrective action.
Support accident and incident investigations by providing documentation and technical insight as required.
Maintain accurate maintenance logs, records, and inventory of tools, parts, and supplies.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including reading and interpreting basic electrical schematics.
Perform fabrication, welding (MIG, TIG, and Stick), and light construction as needed.
Install, relocate, and rig machinery or fixtures safely and efficiently.
Assist with facility upkeep, including painting, carpentry, filter changes, and general repairs.
Recommend equipment modifications, upgrades, or process improvements to increase safety and performance.
Operate shop machinery such as lathes, grinders, and mills.
Maintain a clean and organized maintenance work area.
Follow all OSHA and company safety policies, including proper use of PPE, Lockout/Tagout, and safe lifting practices.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, production teams, and vendors to coordinate maintenance activities.
Work a standard 40-hour week (Monday-Friday) with potential overtime and occasional Saturday shifts.
Required Skills and Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or vocational training in maintenance or a related field preferred.
3-5 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Proficient in basic computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in equipment troubleshooting and repair.
Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and work order systems.
Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and work safely in an active manufacturing setting.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Effective verbal and written communication skills; bilingual proficiency a plus.
Proven ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks under minimal supervision.
Preferred Experience
Experience with machine installation, rigging, and alignment.
Working knowledge of electrical control systems and schematics.
Previous experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Prior safety training in Lockout/Tagout, electrical safety, and hazard awareness.
Work Environment
This position operates in a manufacturing environment and requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods. The role involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, moderate noise, and occasional outdoor work.

Position Overview
The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of Supersede's production systems. This individual will be responsible for developing, documenting, training, and executing all maintenance activities-both preventative and reactive-across extrusion, pelletizing, grinding, sawing, and CNC routing equipment.
In addition, this role will support the specification, procurement, installation, and startup of new manufacturing equipment as the company expands operations. The Maintenance Technician will begin training in Phoenix, Arizona and will support equipment startup and ongoing operations at Elkhart, Indiana. Occasional travel (up to 25%) between sites is required.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, document, and implement preventative maintenance (PM) programs for all manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
Perform reactive maintenance and troubleshooting on extrusion, pelletizing, grinding, sawing, and CNC routing systems to minimize downtime.
Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
Safely work with and troubleshoot high-voltage electrical systems, electric motors, control panels, and PLC-based equipment.
Support equipment specification, RFQ creation, vendor selection, procurement, installation, and commissioning of new machinery.
Utilize CAD software to review and update mechanical and electrical drawings as part of maintenance and modification projects.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve machine reliability, process performance, and operator safety.
Train operators and team members on proper equipment operation and maintenance practices.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, spare parts, and equipment documentation.
Oversee facility maintenance, including compressed air, HVAC, hydraulic power units, and general utilities.
Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives aimed at reducing downtime, increasing productivity, and enhancing sustainability.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience maintaining industrial equipment in a plastic extrusion, recycling, or related manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair high-voltage systems, motors, sensors, and PLC-controlled equipment.
Working knowledge of Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLCs and experience with electrical schematics and control logic.

Facilities Technician

This position is responsible for providing facilities maintenance including all grounds, facilities equipment and the building structure itself. This position provides support for equipment failures, hazardous chemicals spills, and on-call support.
Essential Duties:
• Performs plumbing repairs, electrical repairs/modifications, preventative maintenance including refrigeration system, cooling system, appliances, light fixtures, and doors.
• Oversees and provides necessary repairs to the building HVAC system
• Performs tasks common to the care of grounds and landscapes; Assist in snow/ice removal from walkways
• Designs and installs special facility projects when needed
• Maintains a safe storage environment for hazardous chemicals
• Performs necessary building janitorial duties
• Other duties as assigned
Education/ Experience/Skills:
• High School Diploma with one (1) to two (2) years of on-the-job experience and/or specialized training and education or equivalent
• Working knowledge and capabilities with equipment with multiple logic functions and capabilities requiring specialized training.
• Solid mechanical skills and abilities
• Solid working knowledge, skills, and abilities of HVAC systems
• Solid carpentry and plumbing skills and abilities
• Basic electrical skills and abilities
• Solid working knowledge, skills and abilities of appliances including, dishwashers, microwaves, gas stoves, garbage disposals, toaster ovens and coffee makers.
• Solid working knowledge of all building codes under pressure
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret procedures, policies, and regulations
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift objects weighing up to 80lbs., and carry objects weighing up to 47lbs up to 100 feet.
• Ability to push/pull weights up to 75 lbs. and maintain the grip strength required to carry objects including buckets and boxes.
• Must also show fine motor dexterity.
• Demonstrate ability to climb stairs, stoop, crawl, twist, squat and reach overhead.
• The position requires frequent, constant standing and walking.
