May accompany insurance, federal, state, or local authorities inspecting buildings or mechanical systems. When other disciplines need physical or technical assistance, makes suggestions, inspections and/or corrections to work projects and systems equipment. Is able to fill in for disaster, vacation, or illness coverage. Is eligible for and performs on call status. Will fill out requisitions for purchases for subtitle to the manager of maintenance. Follows all organization and department (or unit) policies and procedures. Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job related hazards. Maintains work area and equipment in condition required by department standards, daily. Operates assigned equipment and performs all procedures in a safe manner as instructed. Demonstrates proper body mechanics in all functions. Responsibly follows the hospital exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous hospital environment. Completes work assignments on time as observed by manager. Reports to work on time and is at work on a regular basis, as observed by manager. Provides notice of planned and unplanned absence according to hospital/department policy, standards, and protocol. Readily accepts changes in assignment. Is familiar with all of the various electrical plant systems found in the hospital's facilities. Must have an understanding of the methods and techniques necessary to ensure safe, sanitary, dependable, and economic operation of related HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, medical gas and balance of mechanical plant systems and equipment.
