The Field Service Technician is required to establish, promote and maintain excellent rapport with all customers, co-workers, sales representatives and others as appropriate. The Field Service Technician is primarily responsible to support products and services sold to our “Edge” market segment, including retail, financial, and municipal customers. RESPONSIBILITIES: ROLE Perform service tasks as assigned and as per company policies and procedures Capable of working under direct supervision or independently based upon training completion Render on-site and phone assistance to customers Communicate with Technical Support on technical or procedural issues Implement Field Change Notices per published guidelines Keep current on Safety Bulletins, Safety Field Change Notices, Field Change Notices, and Service Tips SAFETY Operate in a safe manner in accordance with published safety guidelines Maintain and operate company vehicle in accordance with local laws and company policy Must wear appropriate PPE as per company guidelines and accordance with job duties Adhere to work hours policy guidelines - “14 hours rule” Report all work related accidents or injuries within 24 hours to the appropriate personnel. ADMINISTRATION Complete accurate and timely administrative tasks (i.e. Time cards, expense report, mileage reports, Service Request task closure, service reports) per company guidelines Maintain individual inventory and perform cycle counts in accordance with company policy Maintain company property (company vehicle, credit cards, PPE, test equipment, laptop, etc.) per company policies CUSTOMER SATISFACTION Provide proper and adequate communication to internal and external customers Provide estimated time of arrival to the customer where applicable Complete scheduled maintenance documentation properly and provide to the customer and local office upon completion of each assignment Strive to provide all customers a “first time fix” for their equipment Maintain customer satisfaction rates per company guidelines Attend Customer Meetings as required PERFORMANCE Maximize productivity by combining service opportunities Complete all technical and administrative work in an efficient and timely manner Capable of making technical and commercial decisions under pressure Properly evaluate site and equipment for appropriate billing status Maintain productive utilization rate per company guidelines Perform inventory cycle counts per company guidelines Adhere to company dress code and safety regulations Meet or exceed on-site response time requirements for each customer Understand and comply with company startup/escalation processes and procedures Maintain proper and adequate level of internal communications QUALIFICATIONS Experience (one or more of the following) ASEET or AMEET, or progress towards, is preferred High School or Vocational School Diploma 2-4 years military experience in a related technical field 0-2 years of relevant industry experience Interpersonal and Administrative Skills Communicate professionally and respectfully in both written and verbal forms Manage time effectively by prioritizing and balancing technical tasks with administrative tasks Collaborative with peers, customers, suppliers, and leadership Complete administrative tasks (i.e. report writing, time entry, expense reporting, material debriefing, inventory counting, etc.) in a timely fashion Technical skills Make basic site evaluation skills to include: environmental temperature, and general operating conditions Familiarity with electrical / electronic test equipment and fundamentals Follow written technical documentation (i.e. procedures and product manuals) to perform service tasks Employ elementary fix/repair techniques based on directed supervision Complete service tasks and return unit to full operating conditions based upon directed supervision Summarize and report all work related tasks performed in written and verbal form Efficient with a personal computer and associated applications (Microsoft Office, Vertiv software, etc.) WORKING CONDITIONS: Travel is required Flexible schedules (weekends, evenings, and holidays) Valid driver's license Due to the safety sensitive aspect of the role, candidates are required to successfully pass a drug test prior to employment. Key AccountabilitiesManage the safe operation of the plant during assigned shift in the most efficient and productive method to maintain compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and prescribed safety and environmental standards. Make periodic inspections of plant equipment to determine proper and normal operating conditions. Check and record operational data such as fluid levels, temperatures and pressures, compare to trends and have the ability to make corrections as needed. Review daily operating reports and other records to ensure specified operating characteristics in control of the plant equipment. Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on plant instrumentation and equipment. Detect and correct faulty and malfunctioning mechanical and electrical components, devices and equipment. Operate advanced instrumentation and process control systems. Diagnose equipment malfunctions during emergencies and direct activities to restore normal operation or to shut down malfunctioning unit. This may include such tasks as the routine preventative maintenance interventions. * Assist in new hire training and cross-training efforts of other technicians. * Work and communicate well with others and effectively contribute to the working relationships within Barilla. * Be an active participant in all Safety and Environmental Team, training and inspection activities throughout the plant. Ensure safe practices in performing maintenance and machine operation functions in compliance with Company Safety Policy/Procedures. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: * Troubleshoot and repair equipment that is down or in need of repair: * Perform timely and professional troubleshooting tasks such as Robotic, electrical, mechanical, welding, and pneumatic. * Troubleshoot three phase, single phase, PLC controlled equipment, control circuits, motors, VFD's and test fuses as well as troubleshoots apparatuses such as level probes, limit switches, switches, photo eyes and proximity switches. * Troubleshoot gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, elevators, gates, fans, dryer, dust collectors, palletizers and baggers. Welding may consist of arc welding steel and the use of a cutting torch. Most welding would be repair welding with some fabricating. Pneumatic maintenance may consist of troubleshooting air compressors, air dryers, air cylinders, air valves and air solenoids. * Maintain facility and facility systems: Perform building maintenance and/or repair of building systems. For example, door repair, dock repair, changing light bulbs, minor plumbing, heater repair and changing HVAC filters. * Preventive maintenance on all equipment: Need to complete daily, monthly and annual preventative maintenance check lists in a timely manner. Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment in the plant. This may consist of inspecting, greasing, cleaning or repairing production equipment to insure uninterrupted production capability. Checklists may be provided for the minimum amount of preventative maintenance to be performed. * Operate appropriate hand and power tools for performing maintenance: Efficiently use wrenches, pliers, socket sets, screwdrivers, punches, hammer, and other hand tools. Operate drills, drill press, and grinders safely and efficiently. * Responsible for notifying the designated person to order the parts needed for maintenance: Identify parts needed to repair equipment. For example, sprockets for conveyor or belt size and length needed for conveyor. Must be able to look up parts in machine manuals and identify what is needed for the repair. * Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times, including an organized parts room. Maintenance personnel will be designated a workbench with tools and will be responsible for the work area and the tools. Leaving tools or debris lying around is unacceptable. * Perform maintenance task using appropriate safety equipment and safety procedures (i.e.: lockout tag out, guarding, confined space, use of respirators and fall protection). Maintenance will be required to follow company's lock out tag out policy. Replace all guards before putting a piece of equipment back into service after working on it. Use a respirator in certain location working in the plant. Adhere to the company's policy on fall protection. * Provide backup to workers engaged in production, warehousing, inventory management, and shipping as needed to facilitate an accurate order-fulfillment process. * Optimize efficiency, productivity, and equipment performance in order to meet objectives. Develop, implement, and verify standard operating procedures (SOP) for all job-related tasks. * Ability to be on-call during all production shifts for troubleshooting assistance and be available to travel to plant as needed. * Maintain effective working relationships with company employees, suppliers, and customers. Promote and maintain the professional image and reputation of the company and ensure timely problem resolution and customer satisfaction. * Perform all other duties as assigned by management. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: * Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Technical knowledge and skills equivalent to a vocational technical degree. Vocational degree/certificate and 3+ years' experience in the manufacturing industry preferred. * Strong communication, leadership, math, and interpersonal skills.
