A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN
As an operations technician, you spend your day working directly with customer service assistance to residential and commercial collection customers. Other duties include delivering and removing plastic carts, collecting and disposing of various items, maintaining records of services rendered. Your job is essential to the city, and you perform various setting up and removing sanitation containers from field locations for residential and commercial collection. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. This can include operating light equipment and a variety of hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner.
When you are not out in the city, you generally are back at the office providing advice to others outside direct reporting relationships on specific problems or general policies. Contacts may require the consideration of different points of view to reach agreement. TDH Vector License/Certification within 1 year of hire

Pay is based solely on the number of calls completed.
Calls start at $35 and go up based on distance traveled
Pay period: Every Friday after the first week worked
Tickets are run Monday-Friday during the day shift. Candidates must be regularly available a minimum of 3 weekdays to be considered.
Call volume is variable but is usually 2-5 calls per day
You will complete certifications from Dell and Lenovo as part of your onboarding. Certifications are online and free to you.
You must have a reliable form of transportation and a valid driver's license to run these calls. You will be visiting multiple work sites throughout your day.
You must have access to a computer and the Internet to log onto your portal each day.
You must be available to log into your tech portal each morning you are working by 9 am to code your calls and map out your route for the day.
The manufacturer has completed troubleshooting and shipped a part prior to your ticket being issued to you.
You will confirm service times with the customer in your tech portal. Services will be completed at the customer site (residential and commercial)
You will pick up parts daily from the assigned Fed Ex or UPS store for your territory before going onsite. Once all calls are completed for the day drop off the old parts with the pre-paid label that is provided.

Purpose of Classification
Performs technical work in support of assigned IT programs or communications function. Essential Functions

May tear down inboard and outboard gasoline boat motors or marine diesel engines; inspect, repair, or replace defective parts; and reassemble the motors. May maintain and repair heavy construction equipment. Performs other such related duties as may be assigned. Experience in motor vehicle maintenance and repair work. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent, supplemented by technical courses in motor vehicle maintenance and repair, is generally preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another. Knowledge of motor vehicle. Maintenance, of repair techniques, and of safety practices and principles. Skill in the use of tools and equipment. Ability to follow instructions, to make repairs, and to use tools and equipment. The ability to communicate in English and Spanish is preferred. Requires a certification from the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence or ability to obtain within the first year of employment. Texas Motor Vehicle Safety Inspector license and Texas Certified Tow Operator preferred. Requires a valid Texas Commercial driver's license or ability to obtain within the first year of employment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Works with the schematic of equipment to trouble shoot equipment problems.
Repairs all types of electronic equipment.
Calculates the cost of repairs or replacement of equipment.
Communicates the problem or malfunction of the equipment to school personnel.
Operates all types of tools and equipment used to repair electronic equipment.
Assists in the distribution and pick up of instructional materials and equipment; carries out the delivery route in an accurate manner; places correspondence in proper boxes; reports all broken and misplaced equipment, and keeps delivery receipts for charges in deliveries.
Maintains and accounts for all parts required for repairs.
Operates and maintains the delivery truck in a safe manner; drives carefully throughout route; reports any malfunction, and assists in keeping truck in clean, working condition.
Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties.
Drives District vehicles to schools to do equipment maintenance; obeys all traffic laws.
Maintains confidentiality at all times.
Maintains a high level of ethical behavior as is expected of all District employees.
Performs any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Director.
