Skills/Abilities: Ability to use diagnostic equipment; ability to repair or replace all parts associated with gasoline and diesel equipment including engine, chassis, electrical and hydraulics; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to read and interpret complex technical manuals; ability to supervise subordinate mechanics; ability to make independent decisions and to complete assigned tasks with little supervision; ability to operate shop equipment such as hydraulic jacks, overhead cranes, winches and forklifts; ability to make yearly progress toward Master Technician rating; ability to operate all types of automobiles and trucks. Physical Requirements: constantly sees and hears; Requires standing, bending, stooping, pushing, reaching, crawling and working in uncomfortable positions; frequently requires lifting, pulling, carrying, or dragging objects weighing between 50-100 lbs.; requires fine motor skills and excellent manual dexterity for using hand tools and diagnostic equipment. Education/Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent; minimum five (5) years' experience in all phases of complex repair of gasoline and diesel equipment; advanced training in automotive repair and experience in painting, welding and sandblasting preferred; advanced degree/education in automotive repair may be substituted for up to 3 years of experience. This position requires 100% on-site work.
