HOW YOU'LL HELP DRIVE THE FUTURE OF NATURAL GAS?
Our Utility Technician performs duties related to the operation, service, and/or location of natural gas pipelines; or a combination of such duties. May perform the new construction, installation and/or maintenance of gas distribution systems, and/or residential, commercial and industrial metering equipment. Ensures the safety of employees and customers. Specific duties will be determined by the operational needs of the assigned location.

Successful candidate must reside within 45 minutes of the Orlando Division office location to ensure business continuity and emergency response time.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Performs a combination of the following:
Reads meters and meter instruments, turns on and off residential and commercial gas service, appliances and equipment, including CNG and also may convert appliances. Sets and changes out residential and commercial meters/regulators. Performs duties in operation, maintenance and service of meters and regulators.
Investigates metering equipment related to residential and commercial high-bill complaints or questionable/unusual low consumption readings.
Fabricates and joins various types and sizes of gas piping/fittings including gas mains, services and meter sets, may also perform electric and/or gas welding. Installs and maintains pipe in accordance with construction and maintenance standards. Includes the operation of various equipment such as boring equipment, hydraulic tools, backhoe, stopping and tapping equipment and other machines used in distribution construction.
Performs locating of underground natural gas systems.
Performs compliance inspections/activities related to Cathodic Protection (CP), corrosion, relief/gate/regulator stations and leak/CP surveys.
Responds to leaks and /or emergency situations, and completes appropriate reports and forms.
May provide leadership and training to Apprentices or team members with less experience.
Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Must Haves:
High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited school/institution.
Valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record; a CDL may be required with certain positions/assignments.
Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience performing the duties and responsibilities of this position; or minimum of 3 to 4 years of natural gas operations experience related to the duties and responsibilities of this position.
Must be able to proficiently perform all the functions of the PGS Apprentice Utility Technician position.
Must understand basic map reading and be able to operate a computer, communication devices, power tools and equipment appropriate to the position/assignment.
Must be able to perform basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide, decimals, fractions, basic algebra and geometry).
Must possess sound judgment.
Must have the ability to follow complex oral and written instructions, and clearly express ideas verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities
As a Transport Driver you will drive a tanker truck (11,400 gallon capacity) to pick up propane at the supply point (e.g. refinery, pipeline terminal, storage facility) and deliver it to area AmeriGas facilities. The driver will make four to five pick-ups and deliveries per day, driving an average of 500 miles per day and working up to 14 hours per day. Approximately 80 percent of the driver's time is spent driving or waiting in line at the supply point. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Drive the tanker truck to pick up propane at the refinery and deliver to area AmeriGas facilities; approximately 45 minutes is required to load or unload the truck.
Attach terminal hoses to the truck connections to pump propane into the tanker
Use permanent hoses attached to the filling ports or the hoses stored in the truck to unload the tanker. The hoses stored on the truck come in two sizes: 20 feet long, three inches in diameter; and 19 feet long, 1ยฝ inches in diameter
Perform twice-daily truck inspections
May climb ladders at some AmeriGas facilities to check gauges at the top of the bulk tanks.
Requirements
3 Years' tractor and trailer experience with a minimum of 200,000 miles
1 year of tanker experience within the last 3 years, preferred
Hazmat and tanker endorsements

Responsibilities
As a local Service Technician, you will play a vital role in installing and repairing propane tanks for our customers while ensuring the highest standards of safety and customer service. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Safely operate a propane service vehicle with lift gate and boom along provided service routes
Perform repairs on existing propane tanks for commercial and residential customers
Install new propane tanks/systems for commercial and residential customers
On an as-needed basis, perform Delivery Representative functions, such as delivering bulk or canister propane
Perform all daily functions in a safe manner by adhering to all federal and state codes and regulations in addition to all AmeriGas Safety and Operations Policies and Procedures
Consistent use of required Personal Protective Equipment
Depending on fluctuating needs, work 8 to 12-hour shifts
Requirements
All Service Technicians should have a valid class A or B CDL with hazmat and tanker endorsements
Acceptable driving record

The Transformer SME serves as a conduit between C&M, Engineering, and Asset Management peers to provide expertise for operational issues associated with Transformers, Regulators, and other associated ancillary components.

Position Summary: This position is responsible for installing and maintaining all equipment related to LCEC's Supervisory/Control telemetry system in substations and pole mounted devices. This position is responsible for maintaining the infrastructure for LCEC's dispatch radio system. This position is responsible for maintaining the substation electronics and communication facilities that operate LCEC's AMR system.
Position Responsibilities
This position is responsible for calibrating, installing, and maintaining communication, electronic and associated equipment which will ensure the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of LCEC's transmission and distribution electric system.
Must be able to understand and work within LCEC and OSHA safety standards.
Abide by all LCEC safety policies and guidelines.
Must act with a sense of urgency to troubleshoot and resolve complex electronic problems related to communication, monitoring and control systems.
Ability to work independently on complex electronic schemes and in a team environment to
accomplish goals and meet deadlines.
Must be able to identify and plan work, and coordinate with others within the organization (including System Operations, Engineering and Substation Dept) to successfully execute.
Maintain a clean work area and inspect shop and work sites to ensure safety and efficiency.
Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule.
Provide ongoing maintenance of all transmission, substation, and distribution SCADA control systems.
Provide ongoing maintenance of all communication equipment related to LCEC's AMR system, including processor and electronic equipment in substations.
Provide ongoing maintenance of LCEC voice and data radio system equipment (wireless modems, radios, repeaters, base stations, consoles).
Troubleshoot and make repairs on SCADA control systems, AMR and radio system equipment.
Maintain wireless camera equipment including router, solar array, charger and batteries at LCEC transmission water crossings.
Install, perform acceptance testing, and commission new equipment for SCADA/AMR/Communication system replacement or expansion.
Perform evaluations, test, and make recommendations on new or revised equipment.
Participate in project pre-engineering by providing technical input and information as required.
Monitor levels of appropriate parts required to repair systems on a daily basis. Notify supervisor of any deficiencies.
Mentor appropriate personnel in operation and maintenance of SCADA, AMR and communication facilities.
Provide mentoring to technicians at equal or lower steps. The department supervisor may, at his/her discretion, identify or create these training opportunities.
Maintain effective working relationships with employees and customers at all levels within LCEC. Ensure smooth operations, productive communications, and effective understanding during all interpersonal contacts. Provide current and accurate information to all requesters, courteously and in a timely manner.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Support Storm Restoration efforts when needed. Work in emergency storm situations (i.e. hurricanes) and work long hours (>12 hours per day) for many continuous days/weeks as needed.
Education
High School Diploma or the equivalent (Required) and
An associate's degree or a two-year technical or trade school certificate of completion in electronics or electrical engineering technology; computer technology, networks or information systems; fiber optics; or related field (Required) or
Documented completion of a 4-year utility SCADA technician apprenticeship program, equivalent to journey-level certification.
Experience
Two (2) years' experience in troubleshooting electronic systems consisting of microprocessor-based systems and analog systems. (Required)
Two (2) years' experience in troubleshooting supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, intelligent electronic devices (IEDs), or electronic communication protocols or
Two (2) years' experience in troubleshooting data or voice-based RF equipment or
Two (2) years' experience in utilizing a PC to download, modify, and upload configuration files to microprocessor-based equipment. (Required)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to work independently within one (1) year of job award. (Required)
Ability to work irregular hours for assignment completion and flexibility to change scheduling and report to work on short notice during emergency situations and outside of regular assigned shift; ability to work overtime, on-call and availability to respond to call-outs and maintain an acceptable call out response. (Required)
Must live within a 45-minute commute from regular worksite. (Required)
Must be able to travel daily within the service area; field work in an electrical substation environment with regular exposure to energized and de-energized equipment on voltages ranging up to 138kV; exposure to adverse weather conditions; bucket truck or ladder at pole mounted devices, platforms on communication towers (no climbing), and general office environment. (Required)
Licenses/Certifications
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License. (Required)
General Communications Technician - Level 1 or higher; or equivalent certification. (Preferred)
