Tecplot CEO and leadership

During his 20 years at Tecplot, Tom has held key leadership positions in everything from sales and marketing to product management and business development. He enjoys building long-term partnerships with our customers in an effort to solve some of their most vexing workplace problems. This wealth of experience, combined with his MBA from Seattle University’s Albers School and his BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Washington, form a solid foundation of technical skills, professional judgement and emotional intelligence that Tom will use to lead Tecplot into the future. Aside from work, Tom is incredibly involved with his family, particularly in coaching youth sports.

Rich has over 30 years of experience in executive management sales and marketing positions in large companies and entrepreneurial settings alike. He has extensive experience in business strategy and execution, business development, product innovation, and the full spectrum of marketing disciplines. He brings the disciplines of a larger company, the nimble urgency of a small firm, and the relentless commitment to results required by both. Rich has been President and COO of Coinstar (now Outerwall) where he pioneered the company’s entry into electronic payment services, “coin to card” initiatives, and other new businesses. He was CEO of both Ivey Imaging and Tecplot, a data visualization software company in Bellevue. Rich founded Upswing, a management consulting firm that assisted technology businesses in the aviation, graphics, healthcare, and software verticals, among others. Prior to that, he was co-founder and VP Sales and Marketing for Originet, a venture-backed company, and was a senior advertising executive building global B2C and B2B brands. Rich holds an MBA from Columbia University Graduate School of Business (where he was also an Adjunct Professor of Marketing) and a BS from Babson College. He is past president of the Advisory Board of the UW World Series, a performing arts organization in Seattle, and is currently founder and Executive Director of Change Making Change, a national 501(c)(3) non-profit.
