The E&I Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all electrical and instrumentation systems within the facility. This role ensures equipment reliability, safe operations, and compliance with all electrical codes, standards, and plant requirements.
Key Responsibilities Electrical Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems up to [480V / 13.8kV-adjust as needed].
Troubleshoot motors, VFDs, MCCs, switchgear, transformers, and power distribution equipment.
Perform lockout/tagout (LOTO), arc flash compliance, and safe electrical work practices.
Run conduit, pull wire, terminate cables, and verify wiring against drawings.
Test and calibrate electrical components and circuits.
Instrumentation Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and calibrate instrumentation including pressure, flow, temperature, level, and analytical sensors.
Troubleshoot transmitters, control valves, analyzers, DCS/PLC inputs/outputs, and communication loops.
Perform loop checks, instrument tuning, and configuration.
Maintain instrument air systems and pneumatic components.
Interpret and work from P&IDs, loop sheets, wiring diagrams, and instrument specs.
Maintenance & Reliability
Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Perform root-cause analysis on recurring equipment failures.
Document all work in the CMMS system (SAP/Maximo/etc.).
Assist with commissioning and startup of new equipment and projects.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all site safety policies, electrical codes (NEC/NFPA 70E), and environmental standards.

Qualifications Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required.
Technical degree or trade school training in Electrical or Instrumentation preferred.
3-5+ years of industrial E&I experience (refinery, chemical, power, manufacturing, or similar).
Strong working knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems.
Skills & Competencies
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, schematics, loop sheets, and manuals.
Proficiency in calibration, troubleshooting, and control system fundamentals.
Familiarity with PLC/DCS systems (Allen-Bradley, Honeywell, Yokogawa, Emerson, etc.).
Strong understanding of NEC and NFPA 70E.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements
