DC Power Telecom Technician Level IV
As a Level 4 Lead Installer, you will be responsible for overseeing and executing complex telecommunications installations in Central Office, Data Center, Substation, and Outside Plant environments. You will lead a team of technicians, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. PLEASE NOTE: Position requires a high degree of travel. We currently have a need for a technician serving the Iowa/Midwest region.
Responsibilities:
Install, test, and turn up equipment in the Central Office, Data Center, Substation, and Outside Plant Environments
Add and/or removal of battery strings
Perform additions, removals, and modifications on working equipment and circuits
Add and/or remove circuits on working power distribution equipment
Installation of auxiliary framing and relay racks
On site analysis of job drawings and specifications to resolve any issues prior to job start
Preparation of SMOPs and DMOPs for the project
Function as the point of contact for support groups such as engineering, material assignment, etc.
Review the work assignments and project steps (reference the SMOP/DMOP) before each work shift so that all personnel, including contractors, are aware of their roles and responsibilities during the scheduled work tour
Completing the job log as per company standards, including the personnel and hours worked by each work items completed or in progress and notable site or project issues
Complete DC audits, preventive maintenance, and/or load testing of DC power systems and standby batteries.
Additional Responsibilities:
Add and/or upgrade software as needed
Oversee the work assignment, time management, and training and development of all personnel assigned to the job
Maintain a professional orientation, ensuring quality and outstanding customer service
Qualifications:
Minimum of 6 years of experience in telecommunications installation.
Strong technical knowledge of network equipment and protocols.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Leadership and supervisory skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Valid driver's license.
OSHA 10 certification (preferred).
This role requires a highly skilled and motivated individual with a strong technical background and leadership abilities.

The Role
Complete installation, repair and testing of fiber and the different components
Splice loose tube and ribbon fiber in compliance with modern standards
Connect and configure fiber optic networks for facilities while troubleshooting problems
Read splicing print and apply color code to print reading
Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment after installation
Basic daily maintenance of TAK provided vehicle: check fluids, clean and organize vehicle
Ongoing monitoring to ensure that splicing operations are completed according to customer and industry specifications
Safely operate and use a bucket truck to complete daily construction assignments, and pulls the fiber trailer as needed
Completes daily production reports, mark-up maps, keeps track of work hours, completes "as-built maps" for areas built and tracks daily production
Reconcile all issued parts and materials daily to ensure accurate material usage counts
Frequently work with minimal or no supervision
Perform general clean up

Requirements:
Prior fiber splicing experience required
Prior experience with CWDM and DWDM, prepping & splicing from 6ct to 288ct, and a working knowledge of OTDR (VEeX and/or EXFO) and the Fijukura Fiber Splicer a plus
Ability to work outside of business hours when needed, overtime, holidays, evenings, weekends etc., in all seasons
Ability to safety operate a vehicle while pulling a trailer
Ability to complete tasks with small components and wires?
Ability to judge distance and space relationships
Ability to interpret splicing print and distinguish/apply color code to print reading
Ability to use specialty tools
Ability to use and understanding splicing technology such as OTDRs, VFL, OLTS and Fusion Splice
Ability to carry, climb, operate, and work upon an extension ladder (approximately 28 feet high and 75 pounds)
Ability to complete work outdoors, in tight spaces and elevated by bending, reaching, twisting, climbing, and working while standing up to 70% of the time
