Job Description
Works as part of a cross-functional team to conduct routine preventative maintenance activities for all switching center nodes, supporting the network performance and reliability initiatives. Generates the morning reports and facility walk through reports and weekly shift summary reports as requested. Analyzes system reports in order to isolate call failures and drops. Provides support to Level I technicians. Recommends process improvements to supervisor. Performs fault isolation tests related to T1 trouble. Completes cross connect wiring, performs mobile phone number testing, enters and tests system external alarms, performs system call traces, monitors market alarms, responds to Remedy work orders and trouble tickets conducting basic to more complex triage. Dispatches the appropriate technician for resolution of problems in the field. Supports corporate nodes as requested. Tests, accepts and integrates new circuits.
Regularly monitors all market alarms; generates billing tape backups and completes system backup routines on all nodes and provides corrective maintenance as needed. Assists with training more junior technicians on routines related to switching center nodes
Complete site expansions, growth and new site builds as requested. Participates in project activities including re-homes and vendor supported projects related to network growth and development.
Maintain spares inventory. Ensures all spares have the most up to date software and firmware. Maintains tools and test equipment to ensure proper working order.
Qualifications
Functional/Technical Skills (Specify any functional, technical or industry-related skills, knowledge or abilities needed for this position - Note: you do not need to include general behavioral competencies or GMC values.)
Knowledge of RJ45 crimp tool, wire wrap gun, unwrap tool, multi-meter, various hand tools, T1 test set and REACT system and be able to build cross connect in a digital cross connect system.

Overview:

Technical Training:
Perform splicing of fiber optic cables, both fusion, mass fusion and mechanical, to include terminating various types of connectors.
Construct proper splicing in fiber enclosures and fiber termination panels to include grounding, bonding, isolation, storage and sealing in both aerial and underground applications.
Plan and install fiber distribution panels, relay racks or cabinets with all associated hardware and electronics in a head end or OTN site.
Execute large fiber count ring cuts/hot cuts during scheduled maintenance windows with minimum downtime to the network or customer services.
Perform fiber audits to identify the physical characteristics of existing fiber plant from fiber matings, terminations, colors to splices and network elements while documenting and updating records.
Perform testing utilizing OTDR's, Power Meter/Light Sources, OLTS and VFLs; interprets and analyzes data; identifies and troubleshoots problems.
Read, create, and maintain accurate splicing schematics, records, and diagrams.
Perform aerial construction activities, including but not limited to, installing aerial fiber, installing fiber storage (snowshoes), completing pole transfers, and performing necessary clean-up work.
Perform underground construction activities, including but not limited to, pulling cable/fiber through conduits, digging up and repairing damaged conduit and underground vaults or pedestals.
Pull various types of cables, including, but not limited to fiber, coax, and copper in conduit.
Perform traffic control flagging duties for roads and highways as needed.
Ensure company assets are properly and continuously maintained in excellent operating condition while secured in a safe manner.
Accurately complete progress forms, daily activity reports and all other documentation pertaining to work assignments.
Survey jobs sites while considering all safety measures to ensure a safe working environment for associates, general public and property.
Oversee projects and delegates responsibilities to ensure safety, quality and productivity targets are met.
Responsible for mentoring, training, directing and supervising associates while on job sites.
Works closely with the Supervisor to plan, organize, coordinate and schedule projects.

Job Responsibilities
Performs water/fire/smoke damage and mold remediation repair as directed by supervisor to include water extraction, pack-out of contents, removing/disposing of non-salvageable materials, cleaning, light construction and demolition
Sets up and monitors air movers and/or dehumidifiers
May perform other cleaning duties (i.e., construction cleaning, fire/smoke/odor cleaning, mold remediation, carpet and upholstery cleaning, etc.) when part of mitigation or restoration jobs
Reports any equipment malfunction to supervisor
Reports any customer problems or damage to supervisor
Completes assigned job tasks according to company processes while maintaining quality control on each job

Job Description
About the Role:
The SCADA Technician will be responsible for supporting the configuration, troubleshooting and commissioning of instrumentation, communications and SCADA devices during equipment production and on-site after equipment delivery, as required. The technician will support continuous improvement and operational excellence for instrumentation, communications and SCADA-related systems and equipment to achieve zero-failure rate.
Key Responsibilities:
The SCADA Technician will be responsible for the following:
SCADA and MET Assembly
Assembly/build of SCADA racks and MET Stations
Wiring of instrumentation and rack components per design.
Supporting inventory management
Stacking and setting up devices on the rack or MET station as needed
Configuring network and instrumentation devices based on provided design and configuration requirements
Read and understand network device manual for device set up and configuration
Factory Acceptance Testing
Set up FAT environment for customers and Terabase's engineering teams to conduct the FAT for the equipment.
Generate documentation related to the equipment assemblies and testing outcomes.
Support with troubleshooting of network issues and device connectivity issues. A knowledge of Putty and Wireshark is a plus.
On-Site commissioning and warranty support
Travel to sites in different locations of the US to complete pre-commissioning and commissioning activities or warranty support activities, including but not limited to:
Powering up SCADA, MET station and field network equipment
Support establishing remote connectivity to the site
Inspecting installations and completing pre-commissioning and commissioning documentation
Troubleshoot device and network communications issues
Help resolve and document warranty claims
Requirements
Required Skills Requirements:
Travel 40-60%
IT Certifications (A+) and (Network+) or (Cisco CCNA) or min 2 years of relative experience.
Ability to troubleshoot Network layers 1,2 issues effectively including capture packets and analyze it.
Ability to carry heavy equipment for inventory management and assembly of racks and MET stations.
Ability to follow safety standards and protocols.
Solid understanding of fiber and Ethernet technologies, protocols, and patching.
Solid understanding of Network LAN protocols TCP/IP, LLDP, CDP, STP, ICMP, ARP, DNS, DHCP.
Ability to communicate with team members.
Working knowledge of industrial protocols such as Modbus-TCP, DNP3, OPC-UA, IEC 61850 and ICCP.
Nice to have Skills
Ability to troubleshoot Network layers 3 issues effectively including capturing packets and analyzing them.
RTAC or PLC programming experience, including structured text and function blocks.
Experience in SCADA development, Ignition experience a plus.
Experience in setting up virtual machines on physical servers.
Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously.
OSHA and NFPA 70E certifications are a plus.

**The Role**
+ Complete installation, repairs and testing of fiber and the different components
+ Splice loose tube and ribbon fiber in compliance with modern standards

+ Read splicing print and apply color code to print reading
+ Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment after installation

+ Safely operate and use a bucket truck to complete daily construction assignments, and pull the fiber trailer as needed

+ Reconcile all issued parts and materials daily to ensure accurate material usage counts
+ Frequently works with minimal or no supervision

Requirements
+ 3+ years of fiber splicing experience **required**
+ Ability to use and understand splicing technology such as OTDRs, VFL, OLTS and Fusion Splice
+ Prior experience with CWDM and DWDM, prepping & splicing from 6ct to 288ct or more
+ Ability to work outside of business hours when needed, overtime, holidays, evenings, weekends etc., in all seasons
+ Ability to safely operate a vehicle while pulling a trailer
+ Ability to complete tasks with small components and wires
+ Ability to judge distance and space relationships
+ Ability to interpret splicing print and distinguish/apply color code to print reading
+ Ability to use specialty tools
+ Ability to carry, climb, operate, and work upon an extension ladder (approximately 28 feet high and 75 pounds)
+ Ability to complete work outdoors, in tight spaces and elevated by bending, reaching, twisting, climbing, and working while standing up to 70% of the time
