    We are looking for experienced 9-1-1 Dispatchers who can step in and quickly make a difference for our community. If you have experience in an emergency communications center handling 9-1-1 and police, fire, and/or EMS dispatch, we would love to talk to you. Pay is commensurate with experience: 1+ Years = $31.02 an hour 2+ Years = $32.43 an hour 3+ Years = $33.88 an hour 4+ Years = $36.42 an hour Delaware offers a great atmosphere and benefits. In addition to advanced step placement for pay, prior public service credit allows for a higher vacation earning placement. A shift differential of $1.00 per hour is paid for second and third shift hours. While we would prefer candidates with certifications in CPR/AED, APCO PST1, and emergency medical dispatch, we are willing to train the right candidate with the minimum experience. Learn more about the department: DELCOMM is the primary public safety answering point for Delaware County, answering all landline, voice-over-internet, and wireless 9-1-1 calls placed in the County. We dispatch for thirteen fire departments, Delaware County EMS, Delaware County EMA, Powell Police Department, and Delaware City Police Department. The individual responds to requests for service via telephone and radio, employing telephone interviewing techniques and radio transmissions, rapidly and accurately processing information, prioritizing, making referrals, and initiating the proper response promptly, maintaining caller, responder, and public safety awareness. Individual reports directly to a Tour Commander. Additional Information: The nature of our work requires that our team members work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Shifts are determined biannually based on seniority. Shifts First Shift - 6:00am to 2:00pm Second Shift - 2:00pm to 10:00pm Third Shift - 10:00pm to 6:00am Training Process All team members complete a thorough training process to equip them with the skills and knowledge to perform the role effectively. The process consists of the following five phases. Phase 1 - Classroom Training Phase 2 - Call-taking Phase 3 - Fire Dispatching Phase 4 - Law Enforcement Dispatching Phase 5 - Independent/Evaluation Only Selection Process for a March 16th start date. January 11th - Job post closes January 14th - Deadline for candidates to view an informational video and fill out a survey January 21st - Candidates who indicated they would like to move forward, must complete Criticall testing by this date February 2nd to 9th - Phone interviews begin. Dates for in-person interviews will be revealed to selected candidates. DELCOMM is a CALEA-accredited employer. Individual must have a high school diploma or GED, familiarity with computers and basic computer applications, and keyboarding experience. As a condition of continued employment, within one year of the hire date, the individual must successfully complete and maintain certification in CPR/AED, all the current APCO required disciplines, NIMS certifications, and any other required standards. Individual must meet and maintain all required licenses and certifications as a continued condition of employment. Must possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Individual must meet and maintain qualifications for driving on county business at all times, including insurability. Must maintain all required licenses and certifications as a continued condition of employment. Essential Functions * Provides emergency first responder communications link between the public and public safety entities; * Processes telephone calls, analyzes situations rapidly and accurately, determines effective courses of action, completes required paperwork, maintains detailed records of action, and performs clerical duties as needed; * Provides standardized emergency telephone procedures to callers using an automated pre-arrival telephone instruction system; * Processes radio communications for public safety responders, and maintains detailed records of such traffic; * Assists public safety entities in disaster response and preparedness; * Maintains thorough working knowledge of all operational and administrative rules, regulations, codes, laws, policies, and procedures that govern duties within the Center and employment within the County; * Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with emergency response personnel; * Aids management by recommending operational procedures to the supervisor; * Identifies and reports equipment problems and outages to the supervisor; * Supports the Database Technician in the maintenance of the electronic and manual databases; * Drives to the Emergency Operations Center, back-up Communications Center, the Communications Center, or alternate location during an emergency recall as defined by Center policy; * Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance; * Attends various training sessions, video conferences, and workshops; * Hold as confidential, all aspects of the job; * Performs typing, word processing, and related computer operations; * Works overtime and outside of typical work schedule/business hours as required; and * Any other duties as assigned; Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/D/V

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES • Knowledge of the Public Safety Board of Education Radio System. • Considerable knowledge of operations of governmental departments and procedures. • Governmental and departmental policies, and applicable state and local rules and regulations. • Strong understanding of factors relating to crisis intervention and calming techniques. • Proficiency in working within deadlines and report preparation. • Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, utilization of internet search tools and Intranet, and other office equipment such as incident reporting software, fax, copiers, and scanners. • Use a computer to analyze crime information; enter, compile, and maintain statistics; prepare a variety of reports; compose routine correspondence. • Requires extensive communications (verbal and written) with internal stakeholders. • Ability to effectively operate, by sight and sound. Must be able to work independently and be comfortable problem solving using sound judgment while not compromising the policies and procedures of the organization; actions will impact others directly and indirectly. • Must be able to work flexible hours, evenings and staggered shifts, holidays and weekends and/or in emergency situations; required to work overtime including evenings and weekends as assigned by the Chief/supervisor to provide maximum security coverage. • Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues. • Ability to communicate and interact well with school personnel, other law enforcement, emergency agencies and general public. ESSENTIAL DUTIES • Dispatches to Atlanta Public Schools' officers and other part-time law enforcement officers, contracted security and other civilians using an 800 MHz Public Safety Communications System. • Dispatches emergency personnel to calls for service according to standard operating procedures. • Interviews callers and process requests for service to include recording information with accuracy and completeness using the proper reporting system. • Receives, assesses, and prioritizes incoming calls to include emergency calls to determine how best to meet the needs of the customers. • Processes, enters, retrieves, and transmits accurately Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) entries and inquiries, abiding by policies and procedures mandated by NCIC and GCIC. • Demonstrates proficiency in working within deadlines and report preparation. • Types and files reports as required. • Continuously monitors life safety systems (fire and burglar alarms), and operates surveillance systems and security access control systems with proficiency. • Assists with identifying and maintaining most current information in databases as required by the department. • Reports inaccuracies identified or malfunctioning equipment in a timely manner. • Creates trouble tickets for customers when needed. • Maintains constant awareness of assigned units, locations, and status; conducts status checks to ensure safety of officers as often as ordered in the standard operating procedures manual. • Maintains familiarity with all emergency procedures and notification processes; anticipate and prepare for activation of contingency plans due to unforeseen occurrences. • Ensures that the supervisors and applicable resource officers and other District personnel are informed of all violations. • Maintains a strong relationship with Atlanta Police Communications 9-1-1 Center other public safety personnel as needed. • Assists in providing information to other law enforcement agencies with incidents involving local criminal activity that may impact the safety of students, employees or citizens. • Maintains and submits log-sheets to supervisor related to activities that may include police reports, activity logs and time sheets and maintains all training hours. • Contacts Principals, facilities services and other supervisors to report problems with buildings or communicate critical information as it relates to emergencies. • Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed. • Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.
