Job Description RN-Staff Nurse Description: As an RN your primary responsibility is training and supervising caregivers and overseeing client care for SmithLife Homecare to include assessments and supervisory visits. REQUIREMENTS Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Maryland Board of Nursing in good standing. Position requires excellent interpersonal skills and experience in a long-term healthcare setting or Home Health Care. Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently. Reports to: Administrator Schedule: Monday-Friday- Day Shift Primary Duties: Primary Duties: Oversees delivery of all skilled, personal, and companion care services delivered by the agency. Completes all initial assessments for new clients and develops client's Care Plan to detail all daily activities to be performed in the home by Certified Nursing Assistant within 24 hours of admission. Performs all Supervisory Visits to reassess client's care and draft updated Care Plan every 90 days from initial assessment. In cases where the RN has identified a client with complex care, skilled needs or medication administration is being performed by the agency, Supervisory Visits will be performed at 45 day intervals. Complex needs include a client's use of high-risk medical equipment (such as a Hoyer lift) or a client with multiple co-morbidities. In addition, a client returning home from a hospital will be assessed within 24 hours of them returning home in case the Care Plan needs to be updated. In addition to the initial and ongoing Supervisory Visits outlined heretofore, the RN will be responsible for performing a new assessment and drafting an updated Care Plan at any time during service that there is a change in condition or when the RN deems an additional assessment is necessary. Assists the Administrator, as needed, regarding decisions to accept clients for services or recommend other more appropriate placement. Collaborates with the Administrator to ensure that all client needs are being met. Communicates with the client's healthcare team, as needed, to ensure care and services for the client are coordinated. Reviews client chart documentation, and caregiver progress notes and documents any concerns as well as corrective action plan should it be necessary. Ensures that practical competencies of staff have been observed and documented when home visits are performed. In addition, the RN must also coordinate visits to client homes to observe the performance of assigned tasks and document satisfactory performance of those tasks for Home Health Aides or Certified Nursing Assistants. If indicated, the RN is will provide additional training/education to the staff on the performance of those assigned responsibilities and to reassess those skills prior to allowing the aide to perform those skills without direct supervision. Our neonatology team is uniquely qualified to treat NICU patients with the most innovative therapies available. Our NICU has medical team and surgical teams who can take care of babies who have a condition at birth requiring surgery. Other special needs your baby may have will be addressed by our comprehensive team of pediatric subspecialists. The team is complemented by specialized nurses, social workers, respiratory therapists and dietitians. And the NICU is equipped with the latest state-of-the-art equipment that can care for the most complex conditions. Highlights of Our Program Level IV NICU. Children's National has one of the only Level IV NICUs in the Washington, D.C., area, offering the highest level of care for premature and ill newborns. High-risk prenatal care. The Zickler Family Prenatal Pediatrics Institute at Children's National specializes in high-risk pregnancies - diagnosing your baby in utero (in the womb) and providing a treatment plan for delivery and after birth. ECMO breathing therapy. In 1984, Children's National became the first children's hospital to offer extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), which acts as an artificial set of heart and lungs for critically ill infants. Our program is now one of the largest in the country for infants and is designated as an ECMO Center of Excellence. Nutrition and feeding program. The experts in our Neonatal Nutrition Program work closely to evaluate your baby's growth and nutrition during their hospital stay. Special monitoring for brain health. The Neonatal Neurology and Neurocritical Care Program offers patients access to neonatal neurologists who regularly monitor developmental progress and research brain injury prevention and management. Child development clinic. Our Child Development Clinic evaluates more than 1,500 children each year, ranging in age from birth to 4 years old. Our specialists will work with you to address developmental concerns. Specialized lung disease program. Our BPD Program focuses on infants who have chronic lung problems requiring long-term breathing support. This team is composed of specialists in neonatology, pediatric pulmonology, pediatric heart conditions caused by chronic lung disease (pulmonary hypertension).
