Reporting to the Nurse Manager, the staff RN performs professional role functions in accordance with scope of practice and professional standards, including demonstrating the knowledge and ability to use and/or lead the scope of practice, professional standards and accreditation / regulatory standards, scope of practice for LVN and all other nursing personnel e.g. unlicensed assistive personnel. The RN demonstrates the ability to assess their own professional role performance, current knowledge of theory and principles related to discipline specific practice, and the ability to use a population-based approach to determine patient needs .

RegisteredNurse ICU
The ICU RegisteredNurse performs initial assessment and documents appropriately for the level of care appropriate to the patient's clinical presentation/diagnosis, care setting, age development level, and cultural and religious orientation. Initiates discharge planning for each patient upon admission as appropriate. Is able to calculate and titrate vasoactive drugs used in the ICU in response to changing patient condition. Is also able to care for patients receiving mechanical ventilation, i.e. assessment of effective ventilation, suctioning techniques, etc. Has the ability to interpret cardiac arrhythmias and intervene appropriately, including alerting physician to significant changes.
Qualifications
RegisteredNurse with current California RN license
Current BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA)
NIHSS required within 3 months of hire
CCRN encouraged
One (1) year Critical Care experience preferred
Completion of an accredited RegisteredNurse program
BSN preferred
