Telerent Leasing company history timeline

1957

Telerent was founded in Raleigh in 1957 as Southern Frontier Finance Co. and initially financed mobile homes and laundry, restaurant and theater equipment.

1960

Lynch joined in 1960 in a division of Southern Frontier called Telerent, which leased televisions to small motor courts.

1974

In 1974 Telerent contracted with a Japanese conglomerate, ITOCHU, to build a private brand of televisions called Teknika.

1989

In 1989, ITOCHU, a $126 billion company with more than 1,000 companies worldwide, purchased Telerent.

1992

1992 Acquired $45 million RCA TV lease portfolio from GE Capital

1993

In 1993 Telerent started Vendor Capital Group to finance leasing for major hotel vendors.

1993 Launched Vendor Capital Group (VCG) to provide third-party financing

1994

1994 TeleHealth Services (THS) formed, George Fleming joined TLC as General Manager of THS

1996

1996 THS acquired the healthcare assets of Granada North America, becoming market leader in hospital television systems in the United States and Canada

1998

Telerent, with revenues of more than $160 million in 1998, on Jan.

1998 TeleHealth Services introduced their first generation TIGR interactive patient education solution for the hospitals

2000

2000 Telerent combined its Lodging Systems sales group and the recently-acquired MGC group into Allegiant FF&E sales group.

2002

2002 Created the Finance Group to bring together all the lease financing operations of the company

2003

2003 TeleHealth Services introduced TIGRNet and TIGRVue interactive television product lines for hospitals

2004

2004 Telerent discontinued Allegiant hotel furnishings sales to focus on core business

2005

2005 Telerent acquired healthcare assets of Tenavision, Inc.

2012

2012 Telerent acquired Avidex Industries, Inc. one of the nation’s leading custom AV integrators to further expand its solutions offering

2016

2016 Telerent acquired Digital Networks Group (DNG), a leading AV integrator in the K-12 and higher education and government markets
