From fractious town halls to protests in cities enduring immigration raids, new political voices and coalitions are emerging. We want to help readers both in the US and globally understand how these pro-democracy movements and grassroots organizing efforts are building power.

This is a national story, but the project will be anchored by deep local reporting.
As one of two newly created reporting roles in the movement building project, the reporter will focus on marginalized communities in the US, the impacts of government policies on them, and the grassroots organizing emerging within them. Its possible that a great candidate wont check all of these boxes. If thats you, dont hesitate to apply and tell us about yourself and why your background makes you a great fit.
Culture
The culture here is collaborative and entrepreneurial, and you need to know that going in. This isn't a giant newspaper and we don't act that way. If you want a 200-foot tall wall between the newsroom and the revenue team, we are not the place for you. We never compromise our ethics, but are realistic about the position the business of local news finds itself in, and we -- all of us -- are committed to fixing it. Our team works together frequently to support membership efforts, organize events, meet with readers, and create content. Our standards are high and we work our tails off, but we have fun while we do it.
We are non-partisan, in case you were wondering. Were not interested in being a part of the hate economy that has done so much damage to our industry and democracy. That said, non-partisan is not non-thinking. We call B.S. when B.S. needs to be called.
Location
While the majority of your time will be spent in Delaware, you always have a home in our headquarters, located in a growing downtown section of Mansfield.
