JOB SUMMARY The Metadata & Discovery Librarian supports student success and lifelong learning by ensuring library resources are accurately described, easily discoverable, and consistently accessible. This position is responsible for creating and enhancing metadata, managing discovery services, and maintaining library systems that enable seamless access to both physical and digital collections. The librarian contributes to policy development, provides reference and circulation support, and helps ensure smooth daily operations in the Library Director's absence. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICIATIONS Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS), Library and Information Studies (MLIS), Information Science (MSIS), Library Science (MLS), or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program. Minimum one (1) year of experience in cataloging, metadata, library systems, or related technical services work. A combination of relevant coursework, internships, graduate assistantships, or supervised field experience may count toward this requirement. An additional two (2) years of experience in any combination of the following: cataloging, metadata, library systems, technical support, library administration, access services, information literacy instruction, or research assistance. Demonstrated knowledge of national cataloging and metadata standards. Knowledge of and experience with a cloud-based library services platform. Knowledge of HTML (HyperText Markup Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is valued. Knowledge of web accessibility and ADA (American Disabilities Act) compliance standards is valued. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS METADATA CREATION & CATALOGING (35%) Improve existing records through metadata enhancement and quality control projects. Support long-term resource discoverability by maintaining accurate and consistent metadata. Perform original and copy cataloging for physical and electronic materials in multiple formats. Ensure compliance with national and local metadata standards, including MARC (Machine-Readable Cataloging), RDA (Resource Description and Access), AACR2 (Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules), DCRM (Descriptive Cataloging of Rare Materials), NACO (Name Authority Cooperative Program), LCSH (Library of Congress Subject Headings), and LCC (Library of Congress Classification). LIBRARY SYSTEMS AND DISCOVERY SERVICES (25%) Administer and configure Alma and Primo to support institutional needs, optimize workflows, implement enhancements, and coordinate system updates. Oversee metadata display, indexing, and discovery layer optimization to improve user access and search functionality. Maintain LibApps and other library software; coordinate updates and provide staff training on new features. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to database access, authentication, and catalog functionality. Collaborate with IT (Information Technology) staff and vendors to support reliable on-campus and remote access to electronic resources. ACCESS SERVICES (20%) Deliver circulation and user support services, including check-in/out, account assistance, and technical troubleshooting. Create a welcoming environment by helping users navigate library systems, collections, and services. Provide first-tier research and reference assistance at the service desk and through online channels. Provide course-integrated research support upon request, including the development of online learning objects, research guides, and instructional tutorials. COLLECTION MANAGEMENT (15%) Develop and maintain procedures for managing the print collection. Support collection evaluation and maintenance efforts, including deselection, inventory, and usage analysis. Maintain accurate records of missing and lost materials and coordinate with faculty for collection input. Train and supervise student workers and library staff assisting with stacks maintenance tasks. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (5%) Serve on college committees.     Under general supervision the Water Reclamation Operator will perform work of moderate difficulty on an assigned shift in the operation of pumps, valves, engines, treatment processes and other equipment in the Water Reclamation Plant; performs related duties as required. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Responsible on an assigned shift for monitoring and adjusting instrumentation systems associated with an activated sludge treatment process, lift stations and related functions located outside of the Water Reclamation Plant. * Starts and regulates, both manually and using computer equipment, the operation of electric motors, pumps, valves, engines, samplers, bar screens and emergency stand-by equipment which control the flow of municipal and industrial sewage, sludge, gases and chemicals. * Controls the feeding and assures the constant flow of chemicals into the treatment process through adjustments in valves, filling bins, changing tanks or computer equipment as needed. * Adjusts and controls flow of sewage, air and return sludge generated through every day and emergency conditions (including combined sewer overflow) by coordinating regulation through computer equipment and manual operations; assists in the training of new operators. * Checks oil levels of engines, gear boxes, air compressors, blowers, etc. * Lubricates bearings; cleans meters, gauges and probes. * Inspects valves and equipment to detect leaks and other malfunctions and makes necessary adjustments to correct deficiencies and restore normal operations. * Performs preventive maintenance as required at assigned work locations; exercises standard and emergency equipment. * Checks for alarms on each shift. * Makes calculations as needed to determine and distribute flow of sewage according to conditions and specifications. * Reads meters, gauges, charts, graphs, and schematics; monitors river and weather conditions. * Obtains samples throughout the treatment process and conducts certain analyses (such as pH, dissolved oxygen, chlorine residual, temperature, etc.) of samples; monitors and records pressures, temperatures, flow rates and other data. * Completes chain of custody sheets for samples. * Maintains logs of all activities that take place on shifts. * Submits work order requests to supervisor for Water Reclamation equipment repair as needed. * Performs maintenance duties in connection with the cleanliness and maintenance of the Water Reclamation Plant. * Cleans up spills as needed. * loads, unloads, and dumps trucks or trailers as required (which may involve using an overhead crane or forklift). ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Inspects and oversees major street reconstruction and resurfacing which consists of, but not limited to, excavation, pavement removal, replacement, base repair, curb and underdrain installation, sidewalk and pedestrian ramp replacement. * Inspects and oversees major watermain installation which consists of, but not limited to, services, mains, valves, hydrants, fire lines, chambers, manholes, and water sampling. * Inspects and oversees storm and sanitary sewer installation which consists of, but not limited to, pipe, catch basins, manholes, slopes, embankments, ditches, retaining walls, and headwalls. * Inspects and oversees traffic signage, signalization, and pavement markings which consists of, but not limited to, foundations, conduit runs, pullboxes, poles, arms and signal/pedestrian head installation, controller boxes, pavement st. * Inspects and oversees bridge capital construction and maintenance bridge construction consisting of, but not limited to, demolition, removals, pile installation, foundations, substructures, and superstructures * Inspects and oversees sidewalks, drive approaches, handicap ramps, tree removals/installations, topsoil placement, and seeding. * Reviews plans and specifications for City projects undertaken by private contractors which require City approval upon completion. * Conducts street inspections to assess the necessity for reconstruction, resurfacing, repair, and sealing. * Effectively communicates and interprets project plans and specifications to contractors, while providing valuable recommendations to the Engineer regarding project-related issues. * Ensures the utilization of approved construction materials and their proper installation, promptly notifying the contractor of any deviations from specifications or non-conforming-work. * Reviews and ensures compliance of the work zone in accordance with the maintenance of traffic plan for the project, the Ohio Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices, and other City of Toledo standards. * Prepares various reports pertaining to daily work performed, workforce, and equipment, subcontractors, materials used, testing, and measurements of work performed. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Perform a variety of field and office work in support of the City's local code enforcement program. * Enforce compliance with City regulations and ordinances including those pertaining to zoning, land use, license regulations, public nuisances, housing and building codes, health and safety, blight, graffiti, water waste, abandoned vehicles, animals, and other matters of public concern. * Receive and respond to citizen complaints and reports from other agencies and departments on alleged violations of City zoning and related municipal codes and ordinances. * Interview complainant and witnesses, conduct investigations and provide recommendations for resolution. * Conduct field investigations, inspect properties for violations. * Attempt to make contact at the residence or business in order to resolve violation. * Issue and post warning notices, notices of violation, corrective notices, orders to comply and related documentation for code violations. * Schedule and perform all follow-up functions to gain compliance including letters, inspections, calls, meetings, discussions, and negotiations to ensure compliance with appropriate codes and ordinances. * Issue notices of violations as necessary. * Prepare evidence in support of legal actions taken by the City. * Appear in court as necessary; testify at hearings and in court proceedings as required. * Maintain accurate documentation and case files on all investigations, inspections, enforcement actions, and other job related activities including accurate and detailed information regarding code enforcement activity to substantiate violations, which includes photos. * Ensures that all information is documented in the Citiworks Case Management system and that Engage Toledo has the information they need to respond to a citizen about property complaints. * Patrol and conducts field inspections for parcels in their assigned areas to identify and evaluate problem areas and/or ordinance violations. * Determines proper method to resolve violations. * Provides educational brochures designed to advise property owners on the requirements for compliance. * Interpret and explain municipal codes and ordinances to members of the general public, business owners, and other interested groups. * Operate computers and tablets to enter and process all complaints in Citiworks. * Utilizes data bases to retrieve information and research complaints. * Participate in supervising the work of seasonal workers, community work programs, and/or volunteers engaged in community clean-up and preservation activities. * Helps to determine location and type of work to be performed. * Locate vacant residence and businesses. * Ensure buildings are secured, post the property as necessary and ensure that it is registered in the City's Vacant Property Registry. * Check vacant buildings regularly for transient activity, graffiti, and other forms of vandalism. * May assist in researching, drafting, and reviewing municipal codes. * Participate in the development of forms and processes utilized to address various issues. * Perform related duties as required.
