The Terminal Manager is responsible for the growth, development, and management of the assigned terminal(s) by promoting strong partnerships with the sales team, operations, drivers, vendors, and customers. The Terminal Manager also plays a vital role in the professional growth and development of their employees.


JOB EXPECTATIONS/DUTIES

Prepares and executes strategic plans to support growth.
Trains, motivates, and enables the operations team.
Administers all aspects of safety programs.
Oversees fleet maintenance in accordance with company and DOT standards.
Ensures efficient dispatch, minimizing costs and sales-to-delivery timelines.
Maintains DOT compliance, IFTA mileage, driver logs, and DVIRS.
Supervises inventory management functions and site product integrity program.
Negotiates with vendors with the overall goal of lowering operations costs.
Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma of GED is required.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in petroleum maintenance management is preferred.
Must have a strong understanding of DOT rules and regulations as well as the motor carrier environment.
24/7 reliability and response for operations support is required.
Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
A strong HSSE track record, particularly with road safety management, is highly desired.
Class A or B CDL; hazmat and tanker endorsements is desired.

Terminal Manager - Brownstown, MI.

This position encompasses the management of staff; strategic planning; establishing and accomplishing production related business objectives. The Terminal Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the facility, ensuring policies are communicated clearly and are being adhered to, recommending new policies/procedures where beneficial, planning the use of equipment/ resources, meeting production targets and corporate objectives while keeping health and safety at the forefront of all decisions.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

• Promote and implement a safety culture throughout the facility; monitor compliance with current safety initiatives and policies, including investigating and reporting safety-related incidents, accidents, or injuries and responding to Health and Safety committee concerns.
• Develop and monitor a daily labor plan, utilizing established bid schedules and third-party (agency) resources as required;
• Plan the use of facilities equipment and personnel to meet current and projected requirements.
• Manage terminal fluidity through communication with the Regional Manager, customers, and haul-away carriers.
• Plan workload, maximizing daily resources across all shifts; balance daily operating decisions to maximize cost-effectiveness.
• Provide recommended solutions that will improve the overall operating costs in the terminal.
• Overall accountability for achieving organizational and corporate goals in areas such as: production, quality control, health and safety, etc.
• Review production reports and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement to determine potential areas for improvement.
• Interview, hire, and train new employees as required; oversee the personnel processes.
• Development and maintenance of collaborative relationship between the Company and the Union.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Completion of related post-secondary education
• A minimum of five (5) years’ related experience, 3 of which were in a leadership/supervisory role
• Excellent computer skills, especially Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), SRS, and ATS
• Comprehensive oral and written skills
• Valid driver’ s license with a clean record
• Strong leadership and conflict management skills
• Experience leading in a unionized environment is an asset
• Knowledge of the automotive industry is an asset
• A combination of education and experience may be considered

Management Responsibilities

Required Education / Certifications

+ Must have High School Diploma or general equivalency degree.

Primary Responsibilities & Scope

+ Provides "hands-on" practical day-to-day direction to drivers and contractors

+ Insures Safety and DOT Compliance standards are enforced

+ Works closely with Vendors to ensure that all service and maintenance standards are met

+ Works closely with internal customers and driver staff in handling all day to day issues that arise and ensuring "world class" customer service standards are met and exceeded

+ Assists with fleet of company trucks and Independent Contractors to maximize logistic efficiencies

+ Maintains (and repairs when necessary) all on-site equipment and surrounding areas.

+ Maintains the security of the site always.

+ Manages team of maintenance personnel to ensure all safety standards and repair needs are met for the entire fleet

+ Responsible for upholding company brand standards for all drivers, trucks and site

+ Responsible for implementing and executing all operational programs

+ Reviews/performs regular daily dispatch function for site

+ Audits all operational paperwork for accuracy, including but not limited to delivery records and driver payroll

+ Enforces pre- and post trip standards for all drivers and conducts routine field safety audits

+ Prepare for and facilitate Monthly Safety Meetings

+ Involved in the hiring, training, coaching and discipline of drivers

Required Experience

+ 8+ years experience in the trucking/frac/maintenance industry

+ Knowledgeable of DOT compliance and Safety Standards

+ Ability to respond on a 24/7 day basis to emergency situations

+ Ability to dispatch company fleet

+ Experience managing minimum of 20+ drivers and maintenance personnel

+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)

+ Experience with multi-state and logistics is preferred

+ Experience as a petroleum delivery dispatcher is preferred

+ Experience in the Bulk Transportation industry is preferred

+ Experience with Dispatch software is preferred
