Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical CAD Designer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will support the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies, creating precise 3D models, technical drawings, and documentation that guide our manufacturing and product development processes.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and revise accurate 3D models and 2D drawings for mechanical parts and assemblies using CAD software.

Lead the end-to-end electrical design of automotive BMS, including high-voltage monitoring, cell balancing, protection circuits, and communication interfaces (CAN, LIN, SPI, etc.).
Define and document the BMS electrical architecture in alignment with vehicle system requirements and safety goals.

Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to continually improve the BMS hardware design.
Product experience with Li-Ion batteries, battery pack design, electric vehicles, power systems, alternative energy systems, electronic control units (ECUs), MEMS, and sensors preferred.
Proficiency in PCB design tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence) and simulation tools (e.g., SPICE).
Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, microcontrollers, and sensor integration.
Experience with battery technologies, battery safety, and relevant industry standards.

ROLE DESCRIPTION
This is a full-time on-site role for a Mechanical/Electrical Design Engineer at VMI, Inc. located in Cushing, OK. The Engineer will be responsible for managing projects and tasks related to dredging equipment design and development from conceptualization through project completion as well as revisions and updates to existing products. The engineer will be responsible for creating computer-aided design (CAD) drawings, schematics, technical documentation, and programming. The Engineer will assist with troubleshooting and customer support as needed. The Engineer will also perform other duties as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Project management.
Design heavy marine related equipment. This includes all aspects of machine design including structural, hydraulic, and electrical.
Update and review current product designs and recommend revisions that minimize costs and enhance product performance.
During the design of new products, review current and past product designs, determine manufacturing methods and recommend modifications to improve manufacturability through fabrication and assembly.
Evaluate costs of new parts and products to establish best suited components.
Establish hose and wire routings for assembly.
Through behavior and communication, maintain positive relationships with customers, clients, supervisors, and co-workers.
Meet or exceed typical expectations for engineering competence, productivity, creativity, and safety.
Simultaneously work on multiple projects as needed.
Conduct FEA and/or CFD analysis as determined necessary.

Bachelors of Engineering degree in mechanical, agricultural, electrical, industrial, marine, or related field.

Job Purpose
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical CAD Designer with expertise in Siemens NX to join our Test Lab Engineering Fixturing Design Team.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
* Design, create, modify, and manage 3D models and 2D drawings to meet fixturing and tooling requirements.
* Support both mechanical components and complete assemblies throughout the development and prototype process.
* This role demands strong attention to detail, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment focused on engineering test development and prototyping.
* Manage CAD data within PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter) including maintaining version control and documentation of design iterations.
* Ensure designs meet company standards, industry regulations, and manufacturability requirements.
Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to support product development and design changes including:
* Participate in design reviews and provide input on design improvements
* Support prototype builds and testing support with accurate documentation
Education and Qualifications
* Bachelors degree in engineering or related discipline
* 3+ years fixturing design expereince

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead product development efforts with customers and team members, negotiating designs and engineering requirements to meet quality, feasibility, cost, and profitability requirements
• Collaborate with design and engineering members to create 2/3D proposals for new product designs, delegate work, and manage design changes.
• Benchmark competitor components and emerging technologies; propose ways to increase competitiveness

Qualifications and Competencies
• Bachelor degree in Engineering; major in Mechanical Engineering is highly preferred
• Minimum of five years of experience designing and engineering plastic injection molded components
• Must possess knowledge of Plastic engineering design for automotive components, as well as geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), along with proficiency in tolerance stack-up studies
• Must possess knowledge of Injection tooling, processing requirements and Mold Flow CAE analysis
• Ability to interpret the CAE Analysis results and propose countermeasures is a plus
• Possessing knowledge of the design requirements for exterior paint, plating and mold-in-color material is a plus
• Demonstrated knowledge of GD&T, CAD, and plastic component design and injection tooling fundamentals
