Job Description:
Summary:
The ManufacturingEngineering Intern will gain exposure and experience in the development and implementation of optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods, in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. This person recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls. This includes responsibility for the design and/or testing of tooling and equipment and/or planning the manufacturing processes in a designated area of the manufacturing plant.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the development of manufacturing systems with the focus on continuous improvement related to quality and throughput capability of production equipment.
Work is of a technical nature where decisions are made within general practices and procedures, where supervision is available.
Assist in the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes.
Study product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.
Work with operators to support efficiency improvements in assigned area
Other duties as assigned.

Experience:

These tasks would teach you electrical root causing analysis and problem solving as well as leadership skills to provide technical support and direction to support personnel/skilled trades within the organization. Quality and safety are extremely meaningful to us, so enforcing safe work practices is the highest priority and implement objectives for ergonomics, health/safety and housekeeping, which means that you would have to investigate system and equipment problems and provide technical input in problem resolution.

Process Development: Develop new innovative and more efficient manufacturing processes to achieve efficiency and output goals for the new manufacturing facility. A clear focus on LEAN methodology for all processes.
LEAN Manufacturing: Participate in Gemba walks and Kaizen events. Ensure 5S compliance of all workstations. Create visual management boards to communicate with all PBSA team members daily.
Continuous Improvement: Provide ideas and innovative approaches to continue to improve PBS Aerospace's processes as a best-in-class manufacturing facility.
Problem-Solving: Address and resolve any issues and roadblocks that arise during the assembly process and testing process. Use root cause analysis tools such as 5 Whys or Fault Tree Analysis. Implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
Qualifications:
An associate or bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in aerospace or industrial manufacturing process engineering of 5+ years will be considered.
Self-starter with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in using assembly processes and all related tooling.
Direct experience with ERP systems.
Knowledge of safety and quality standards in manufacturing. ISO 9001 or AS9100 working experience.
Experience or certification in LEAN methodology such as LEAN Six Sigma Green Belt is preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Requirements and Work Environment:
Because this is an ITAR compliant facility the applicant must be a US citizen to be considered for that position.
10% of international travel to Europe is required in the first year.
Typically, in a manufacturing facility the environment can be noisy and requires the use of protective gear.
The role may involve standing, walking, and lifting, and can be physically demanding.
