What to Expect Tesla's in-house Cathode Manufacturing Pilot is located in Fremont, California. This investment is critical to our mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy and represents our efforts to increase the supply of cathode in North America. This role will be a hands-on pilot scale chemical processing role scheduled to work a Sunday-Wednesday 10-hour shift schedule. Chemical Operators are responsible for safely running process systems and associated equipment during their shift, adapt to frequent changes to equipment and procedures, and have a focus on quality sampling and reliable data acquisition. Candidates must have a strong work ethic, be safety conscious, display attention to detail, be adaptable, work with minimal direction, have good communication skills and be able to work in a team-based environment. The successful candidate will safely and efficiently operate equipment necessary as a Chemical Operator. This position is responsible for performing quality control testing, product packaging and loading/unloading finished goods and raw material.
What You'll Do
* Communicate with team members regarding safety, equipment status, production, quality, and operational issues using detailed written and electronic notes
* Operate equipment in accordance with all safety, quality, environmental and efficiency standards by following written and verbal work instructions
* Write and follow procedures to safely commission, operate, clear, startup, shut down, and Lock Out chemical manufacturing equipment safely and efficiently
* Provide initial response to unplanned events to minimize the impact to personnel, the environment, and equipment
* Use equipment and instrumentation to monitor and record pressure, temperature, and other process conditions
* Complete facility-wide and area specific training programs to obtain certification to independently operate the plant
* Issue permits for maintenance work
What You'll Bring
* 4+ years of experience in refinery or chemical processing
* 2+ years of hands on operation in refinery or chemical processing facility
* Ability to handle tasks from initiation to completion and the ability to adapt to changing demands and to react positively to verbal instructions
* Proficient with computers to use digital management systems and communicate effectively and must have command of the English language, both written and verbal

* Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day

Basic Qualifications:

About the Role:
As a VLM/VLA Research Intern on the AI Research team, you will operate at the frontier of Embodied AI, developing foundational models that bridge the gap between high-level reasoning and physical execution. Your work will focus on advancing vision-language-action architectures to solve critical challenges in data mining and end-to-end autonomous driving. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on real-world AI/ML systems at scale, collaborating with and receiving mentorship from world-class researchers to shape the future of grounded foundation models in the autonomous vehicle industry.
What You'll Do:
* Drive the development of embodied foundation models and vision-language-action architectures that unify multimodal perception with robotic control.
* Prototype and refine ML models that leverage VLA architectures to improve decision-making and reasoning for autonomous vehicles through imitation and reinforcement learning.
* Utilize vision-language models and generative techniques (such as world models) to improve the model's understanding of complex driving scenarios.
* Partner with perception, robotics, and systems engineering teams to integrate VLA research into the broader autonomous stack and validate models in closed-loop environments.

Required Qualifications:
* Currently pursuing or in the process of obtaining a Masters in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
* Solid understanding of modern machine learning techniques, especially deep learning architectures (e.g., transformers, LLMs, VLMs, generative models, multimodal learning).
* Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
* Research experience in AI/ML, demonstrated through coursework, academic projects, or publications.
* Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
* Strong communication and presentation skills.
* Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

In this position...
The Systems Integration and Test Engineer working on Network Communications (NetComms) will be responsible for complete end to end integration testing of vehicle network architecture down to the physical layer of network and participate in the system level design activities for the LV system and architecture. You will be the point person for anything network testing related on this platform and lead the bring up activities in each of the vehicle builds for your domain. You will Conceptualize, Design, Engineer, Develop and support the launch of next-generation vehicle platforms for electric vehicles.
Responsibilities
What you'll do...
· Lead the design, integration and functional testing of Vehicle Network Architecture and optimization for network switch and various network interfaces such as CAN, 100b-T1 and 10b-T1S Ethernet, LIN, etc.
· Define and document network communication testing requirements, specifications, and interfaces considering factors such as bandwidth, latency, reliability, and scalability
· Characterize the Vehicle Network by laying out architecture and conducting network performance analysis, simulation, and testing to validate the functionality, reliability, and robustness of network communication systems under various operating conditions and environmental factors
· Collaborate with part owners, firmware developers and system engineers to determine the optimal functional messages allocation across the vehicle serial data network channels
· Collaborate with functional safety and functional safety groups to develop network architecture infrastructure enablers to support fail-operational and fail-safe requirements
· Report development progress and maturity at various program milestones
· Drive the team to deliver and maintain Interface Definition Documents (DBC/LDF/XML) and chair the Network Change Request Forum to track and manage changes to the network
Qualifications
You'll have...
· B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or related fields
· Strong Electrical and Embedded Systems Engineering fundamentals with expertise in automotive networks and various protocols.
· Strong experience with testing of networking HW, from switches, controllers, transceivers, and highspeed cabling.
· 5+ years of experience with Vehicle Network Protocols such as CAN, LIN & Automotive Ethernet
· Experience with automotive network development tools and software, such as Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, Wireshark, and Ethernet-based tools for network analysis and debugging
· Strong knowledge of automotive electric architectures, including power distribution, communication networks, and vehicle electrification technologies
· Strong foundations in software systems design of networking and embedded areas covering the complete software development life cycle

· Experience with tuning of vehicle software & hardware for network physical layer performance.

What to Expect This position will work as a member of Tesla's Engineering Test Team to support Semi commercial vehicle level testing for Reliability and Durability tests performed in-house and at external test labs. The primary responsibility of this role is to collaborate directly with engineering teams in executing vehicle level tests at various proving grounds. The successful candidate for this position must have a broad background in automotive maintenance and testing.
What You'll Do
* Collaborate with test engineers & technicians in vehicle test execution including, but not limited to, test setup, inspections, diagnosis, part retrofits and driving
* Support various teams within the engineering organization where priorities is required
* General shop maintenance & upkeep
* Maintain a clean and organized work environment
* Time Management: Independently manage your time to successfully complete parallel assignments, ensuring efficient use of resources and meeting project deadlines
* Communicate directly to various engineering teams in status updates and problem solving using various methods (e.g. Email, MS Teams, JIRA)
What You'll Bring
* 5+ years in automotive service industry, 3+ years of engineering prototype or product validation
* Technical/Automotive ASE (or equivalent) certification
* Advanced diagnosing capabilities on electric/hybrid vehicles, NVH, both in low and high voltage, CAN communication, using meters & oscilloscopes, hi-pot
* Use of MS Office tools and other systems to effectively communicate results/failures (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Jira)

Expected Compensation
$33.60 - $65.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
