EGSE Test Engineer
Karman 4.2
Test engineer job in Broomfield, CO
Karman+
We are inventors, designers, engineers, scientists, tinkerers, entrepreneurs, adventurers, artists, activists, global citizens, architects, musicians, builders, writers, athletes and space nerds. We partner with the best minds and most experienced teams across industry and academia, bringing together the knowledge, experience, and skills required to navigate our critical path.
Mission We want to mine space resources from near-Earth asteroids to provide abundant, sustainable energy and resources in space and for Earth. Vision
Asteroid mining has lived at the intersection of scientific research and popular culture for decades, with as many academic papers published as there are books, TV shows and movies about it.
Access to resources, with its finite nature and disparate distribution, plays an essential part in the geopolitical web of power and wealth. It has defined economic growth to such an extent that we have been using them as primary demarcation lines and identifiers in our history, from the stone to bronze and iron age to our current silicon age.
But our resources-driven growth faces a massive existential challenge, with climate change, ecosystem degradation and resource depletion demanding a complete reset. Humanity needs to shift global transportation, manufacturing, construction and energy onto a sustainable path.
Expanding beyond the Kármán line is where we believe transformative future growth and innovation will be found. Recent missions by NASA (OSIRIS-REx & DART) and JAXA (Hayabusa2) have firmly pushed the idea of using space resources from academic research into commercial opportunity.
We believe the Regolith Age, powered by abundant space resources, is an inevitability that we can accelerate.
We value these principles:
Diversity of thought. We believe that different perspectives drive better results. We aim to build diverse teams and a diverse company.
Ownership, feedback and accountability. Ideas improve through collaboration, discussion and iteration. Decisions don't follow the same pattern and revert to the mean when made in a group. We aim to have clear ownership, accountability for results and autonomy to deliver.
No silos. We build cross-functional teams to be able to deliver on our goals. There are no predefined lanes for people to operate in, information is pushed out across all teams to make sure we benefit from cross-pollination.
High talent bar, no a**holes. We optimize for potential and a growth mindset. We value experience, but only when balanced with self-awareness and first principles thinking.
Small is beautiful. The best results as well as the best work experience come from a small team of talented people working towards a common goal.

System Test & Integration Engineer (Spacecraft AI&T)
Position: Spacecraft Test & Integration Engineer Location: Broomfield, CO
Position Type: Full-time, on-site
Mission: High Frontier - Orchestrate the Testing That Proves Spacecraft Readiness
At Karman+, we're building spacecraft systems that will take us beyond Earth orbit. For the High Frontier mission, we need a hardware-intimate, system-focused AI&T engineer to plan and execute system-level testing. This role is perfect for someone who thrives at the intersection of systems, software, and physical flight hardware - ensuring our spacecraft is fully operational and flight-ready before launch.
What it takes to be successful in this role:
As a Spacecraft System Test & Integration Engineer, you'll own the planning and execution of system level testing in FlatSat/HITL environments and directly on the flight vehicle. This role will lead the design and execution of our spacecraft's test campaigns. You will be responsible for ensuring that our systems are flight-ready, bridging the gap between hardware, flight software (FSW) architecture, and mission-level risk mitigation. This is a role for an engineer who thrives on system-level troubleshooting, from identifying EMI issues to validating complex "plugs-out" sequences. You'll develop test plans, manage test scripts, and ensure smooth collaboration between engineering teams during major test campaigns. This role requires both a system-level view and a deep passion for getting hands-on with test execution, electrical troubleshooting, and hardware handling.
This position is for someone who enjoys the fast-paced environment of the test floor, high level spacecraft operations, coordinating across multiple teams, and safely managing the risks associated with flight hardware, keeping tests organized and traceable.
Key Responsibilities
Take ownership of the planning and execution of flight vehicle system-level tests.
Tests may include power distribution, GNC phasing, RF compatibility, self-compatibility, vehicle-level TVAC, FSW load, prop system functional, or mission simulations.
Lead "plugs-out" testing and debugging to ensure the spacecraft and payloads interact safely under all flight conditions.
Take responsibility for the health and safety of the flight vehicle during powered testing including the identification and mitigation of EMI/EMC anomalies.
Perform electrical mates and measurements (utilizing BOBs, DMM, oscilloscope, etc.).
Command and control the vehicle during powered testing.
Take ownership of FlatSat (commonly called HITL) system level test/integration planning and execution.
Bridge the gap between FlatSat dry-runs and final flight vehicle execution.
Functional testing to ensure ~100% FSW test coverage.
Closed loop simulation tests for launch/activation, cruise, encounter, and off-nominal scenarios.
Lead complex troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for electrical noncomformances.
Flight vehicle test dry-runs.
Flight operations products vetting prior to uplink.
Ensure the FlatSat is ready and available for software teams to use for Gitlab CI/CD pipelines. Maintain a balance between automated software development testing, system-level manual testing, and FlatSat hardware safety.
Develop, maintain, and version control…
