Knowledge of fundamental hardware blocks & subsystems - CPU/microcontrollers, LVDS signaling, PCIe, USB, clocking, signal integrity & power issues Debugging hardware and script development/debug skills. Ability to widely apply networking principles, theories and field concepts to product test Ability to draw parallels between hardware architecture and OSI networking fundamentals Extensive experience with instrument control & automation Participates on a project team of engineers involved in the specification, design, development and test of hardware. Defines the unit and system level test processes and procedures Responsible for unit and system level test architecture design (what to test and how to test to exercise all the components on a board). Writes complete unit and system level test plans for an entire product family Performs complex system level unit and integration test. Debug/Mitigate complex system level problems Interfaces with Customer Eng., Marketing, and Sales to understand customer problems and requirements to continually improve internal engineering test methodologies and test cases These functions work closely with hardware design engineers, software/diagnostic engineers and manufacturing test engineers to determine a product test strategy, develop the necessary scripts, test the products and drive any issues to resolution for successful release to manufacturing Leverage automation to implement test strategy & improve productivity Test product's compliance to internal specs as well as industry standards Provide detailed issue mitigation & drive issues to closure Document test plans, procedures, & test reports Root cause field issues & support customer escalation (1.) To collect requirement and create engineering documentation and Test plan (2.) To select critical components meeting product specifications (3.) To design schematics in ECAD tools and review connectivity (4.) Perform Design analysis like Signal Integrity, Power Integrity , Derating analysis (5.) Prepare PCB layout guidelines and work with PCB team in reviewing the layout for design rules and DFx (6.) Support and work with cross-functional team for HW dependencies with ME Team, SW team, FPGA team , Manufacturing team (7.) Preform HW Design verification test, Regulatoryorsafety compliance test and Prepare test reports for the same.

• Designs, develops, and implements testing methods and equipment.
• Plans and arranges the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices.
• Provides test area with parameters for sample testing and specifies tests to be performed.
• Compiles data and defines changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements.
• Responsible for testing all customer samples and for special tests that cannot be performed in the test area.

Minimum qualifications:

+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

+ 5 years of experience in thermal testing, characterization, and validation of consumer products.

+ Experience in thermal validation including use of DAQ systems, thermal imaging, programmable power supplies, power measurement, data collection, analysis, and reporting.

+ Experience in assembling and disassembling prototypes and applying thermocouples.

Preferred qualifications:

+ 8 years of work experience in a thermal lab setting.

+ Experience in managing the thermal lab including all types of tools, equipment, thermal components, and parts including thermal interface materials, gap pads, gels and greases, fans, heat sinks, heat pipes, graphite, thermocouples, and equipment.

+ Experience in performing statistical analysis to evaluate test results quality and putting thermal test vehicles together.

+ Experience in entering command sequences (ADB, Python, Linux shell scripts) and modifying test scripts.

+ Strong theoretical background in heat transfer and electrical circuits (methodology for measuring voltage, current, power, etc.).

+ Familiarity with lab safety and housekeeping practices.

In this role, you will be supporting Thermal Engineers in Google Nest's thermal labs through testing, fixture design troubleshooting, and prototyping. You will thrive in ambiguous environments, take pride in working with top notch teams, and contribute to the cross functional product development efforts.

+ Development of test methods and processes based on communications and feedback with cross functional teams including thermal design, product design, and software staff.

+ Execute, instrument thermocouples, and setup thermal tests of products, mockups, thermal modules, battery packs, and thermal materials in natural convection chambers.

+ Execute test scripts, f lash devices with required software, and measure power on systems under test conditions.

+ Work closely with the Hardware Validation team on re-work of systems. Document and analyze thermal test results using spreadsheets, docs apps for data analysis and reporting.

+ Debug thermal test issues with test equipment, development hardware, and software. Maintain, design, upgrade, and build lab equipment, space, tools, and materials.
