Summary:
Full time MLT position at Morrow County Hospital on night shift with Bonus of $7,500. The Medical Technologist (ASCP) performs accurate, precise, and timely patient test results for the diagnosis and management of human illness. Utilizes automation, computerization, and manual methods. Responsible for quality control and instrument operation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
Position handles blood, tissue, fecal matter, sputum, urine, spinal fluid and other bodily fluids. Specimens may be contaminated with infectious diseases including HIV and other blood borne pathogens.
Responsibilities And Duties:
- 55% Critical thinking, academic theory, facilitation/leadership abilities, and advanced customer service skills. Examples include but are not limited to: The performance of complex analysis of all body fluids and tissues. Determining the reliability of all analytic data before releasing as patient measurement for diagnosis and treatment. Interpreting information to make judgmental decisions and troubleshooting technical procedure and instruments. Utilizing knowledge of medical correlation of data, laboratory parameters, physiologic factors, medication effects, and specific medical treatments to assess the validity of laboratory data. Using appropriate testing techniques to evaluate new testing methodologies and practices. Demonstrating safety and infection control practices. Assist in gathering test data for evaluation of new methods and installation of equipment.
- 15% Customer service to clinicians and clients. Must be comfortable and professional on the telephone, able to communicate with physician office staff, clinical staff, and all laboratory associates. Must be able to communicate with patients and their families, using service recovery when necessary.
- 20% Quality assurance functions and equipment maintenance functions. Performs quality control checks on each procedure, equipment, reagents, stains, etc. Documents and interprets all QC data used by technologists to determine validity of patient results and verify instrument performance. Documents and reviews maintenance logs to assure optimum system performance, guaranteeing valid data and eliminating costly, time-consuming equipment failures.
- 5% Continuing Education and Competencies. Remains current in field. Trains new employees and students. Maintains competencies, mandatory educational requirements (ACE).
- 5% Miscellaneous duties. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

1. Adheres to safe work practices, follows GMP's, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures that product quality is maintained. Reports any conditions or practices that may adversely affect employee safety or food safety/quality to management immediately.
2. Attends and actively participates in daily shift huddles and handoffs.
3. Collect in-process and finished-product samples for analytical and microbiological quality checks.
4. Performs verifications of: Package coding, product weights, packaging integrity, labeling, temperature, sensory, etc. to verify compliance with customer and MFI's specifications and all others associated regulations for all products.
5. Assist in drafting, revision, and maintenance of plant standard operating procedures.
6. Act as a liaison between Production, Distribution, Sanitation, Maintenance, and the Quality Department by communicating quality issues, assisting in corrective action implementation where necessary.
7. Participate in plant food safety/quality inspections, in-process inspections, mock recall, label audits, HACCP audits.
8. Perform analytical testing including: Solids Content, pH, Vitamin C, Viscosity, Organoleptic, Hydrogen Peroxide Residual, and Packaging Integrity.
9. Verify proper set-up of production lines at start-up and shift change: Printer set-up (coding), packaging materials, labeling, quality limits, etc. Ensuring code date information is accurate and distributed to the production team.
10. Review sanitary condition of production lines prior to start-up by visual and mechanical inspection, performing ATP (adenosine triphosphate / verify surface cleanliness) and APC (Aerobic Plate Count / Verify absence of microbiological organisms).
11. Perform pH analysis of samples as part of root cause investigations.
12. Use inventory control software to ensure non-conforming product does not enter commerce.
13. Assist in investigations in response to customer concerns or other quality related deviations to determine root cause and appropriate corrective actions.
14. Assist in the management of quality hold activities, including non-conforming product inventories.
15. Ensure lab equipment, fridges and thermometer etc. are properly maintained and calibrated.
16. Lead and organize incubation sample collection and processing for investigations.
17. Maintain and follow MFI micro sample and shelf-life study programs.
18. Provide packaging integrity training to operations team. Demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow.

Battelle is currently seeking an **Anatomic Pathology Senior Technician** . This position will serve at our **Columbus, OH** and **West Jefferson, OH** locations.
Battelle's Life Science Research is seeking a full-time technician to work in Pathology to perform necropsy procedures on small and large animal, to trim tissues for histopathology process and generate data for various types of studies. This position is Monday through Friday and will require overtime at nights, weekends and to be on call; schedule also includes holidays.
**Responsibilities**
+ **TECHNICAL:**
+ The primary role is to perform necropsy examinations of small and large laboratory animals; to include gross necropsy, tissue collection, fixation, and labeling of specimens.
+ Work with highly hazardous biological/toxic materials in Biological Safety Level 2 (BSL-2) and Biological Safety Level 3 (BSL-3) laboratories.
+ Process tissues for the histopathology team following established SOPs and safety protocols; cross-train in histology (e.g., embedding, sectioning, staining) to assist histology workflows to provide flexible coverage.
+ Contributing to the development and validation of equipment and necropsy activities.
+ Understanding and performing dilutions including mathematical calculations involved.

Laboratory Technical Support

Cleans and maintains the lab area. Opens and closes the Lab at shift end and ensures equipment is stored in the proper location to secure the Aviation Lab.
* Ensures tools, equipment, and training aids are functional, operational, and performs needed diagnostic service and minor repairs. Replaces tools and equipment when necessary. Prepares new training aids and donated vehicles for laboratory use.
* Performs vehicle preventive maintenance. Charges batteries, maintains fuel levels, monitors tire pressure, and performs other maintenance of a routine nature. Schedules aircraft work for laboratory projects. Orders aircraft service and repair, labor time and estimation manuals, and updates automotive computer programs.
Inventory & Clerical Support
* Maintains and updates inventory of tools, special service kits, equipment, stock items, and vehicles. Monitors disbursements, orders needed items, and obtains bid offers on new equipment.
* Utilizes college-approved contractors to ensure proper handling and disposal of waste oil and other hazardous materials. Keeps accurate records. Completes and maintains required documentation, including inventory reports, work orders, and requisitions.
Program Support
* Assists instructors. Obtains and returns training materials, sets up vehicles and other training aids, and arranges chairs, tables, and equipment. Answers routine questions, gives aviation lab tours, provides general information, and performs other duties to maintain good public and student relations.

Minimum Qualifications
* Must have a high school Diploma or GED with technical or vocational Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) training.

* State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s)

What you can expect:
Direct Patient Care. Spend the majority of your day in direct one-on-one patient care to provide safe, comfortable and hygienic dialysis treatment. Our PCTs care for up to 4-5 patients at a time.
Technician Duties. In the morning, the opening PCT is coming in to get the water room ready and the bicarb for the patients. They are testing the water for chlorine, checking to make sure the tools are calibrated. There are a lot of duties in the morning. To monitor patients before, during and after dialysis treatment including measuring and recording stats, patient observations, and hemodialysis machine setup.
Please note you will have exposure to blood and needles.

In This Role:
