Our online tutors conduct live, synchronous online tutoring sessions using the BookNook platform and video conferencing software. This is an exciting opportunity to have a direct, positive impact on students on their path to achieving success in Math.

Position Specifics:
Subject: K-8th grade math
Curriculum: Lessons for math sessions include inquiry-based instruction, with a strong focus on explicit instruction. Curriculum and content will be provided within the platform.

Timeline: Programming typically runs during the school year, with the busiest months from September-May
Pay Rate: $20 per hour ($10 per 30-minute session)
Schedule: Up to 30 hours per week based on the tutor's availability and the number of active tutoring programs. Schedules may vary based on school requests.
Sessions are held only on weekdays (no weekends) and can be before, during, or after school.

The Quantitative Support Team is seeking American University undergraduate students to join our tutoring team for the spring 2026 semester. Tutors will provide quantitative tutoring and/or statistical software support to their peers.
The types of tutoring positions available include mathematics tutoring positions that focus on assistance to students taking MATH-155 through MATH-313. Statistics tutoring positions focus on assistance to students taking STAT-160 - STAT-302/320. Online Statistical Software Support is another type of tutoring available. Candidates for software support positions should be proficient in using one or more of the following: Excel, Python, R, SAS, SPSS, SQL, Stata, or StatCrunch. Additionally, the Tutoring Lab supports DATA-412/612.
