This candidate will serve as a mentor to fellow research administrators. Promotes customer satisfaction by assisting project administrators and TAMU-CC management in the resolution of problems and complex issues. Participates in coordination meetings with Office of Sponsored Research Administration (OSRA) staff members to identify and correct weaknesses and implement improvements. Promotes excellent communication between all internal and external customers. This is a Remote or Hybrid eligible position. Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. **RESPSONSIBILITIES** **Sponsored Projects Accounting: 60%** * Demonstrates knowledge of sponsored project accounting and generally accepted accounting principles. * Demonstrates knowledge of OMB 2 CFR 200, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles and Audit Requirements for Federal awards. * Reads and interprets sponsored agreements and associated regulations to determine risk and appropriate accounting treatment. * Provides expert guidance to project administrators and principal investigators to effectively manage research projects and resolve complex issues * Reviews and approves new and updated project information in Financial Accounting Management Information Service (FAMIS) including budget entries. * Establishes and maintains accounts in the accounting (FAMIS) and research administration (MAESTRO) systems including loading revenue and expense budget, billing requirements, facilities and administrative cost distribution, cost-sharing commitments, reporting requirements, sponsor, and TAMU-CC & TAMUS regulations * Reviews and submits cost-reimbursable and fixed-price invoices to sponsors and ensures expenses are reported in compliance with the project budget, with regulations stipulated by the granting agency and in accordance with TAMU-CC's fiscal policies and procedures. * Responsible for Accounts Receivable collections. * Investigates and solves purchasing, accounting, travel, and payroll errors. * Reviews and submits revised budget requests as needed. * Ensures that the close-out module in MAESTRO is completed accurately and in a timely manner at the end of a project. * Consults with appropriate University staff in order to reconcile FAMIS accounts, troubleshooting as necessary. * Responsible for preparing and submitting financial reports as required by sponsoring agencies. * Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and implement process improvements to increase operational efficiency. * Maintains expert knowledge of OMB 2 CFR 200 Uniform Guidance, FAR clauses, State of Texas agency regulations, Cost Principles, and Audit requirements for federal awards and other regulations as needed. * Reviews and approves Payroll Costing Allocations for accuracy, while monitoring Key Personnel level of effort to ensure compliance with OMB 2 CFR 200. * Reviews and approves all financial transactions on sponsored projects to determine if the expenses are allowable, allocable and reasonable. This includes purchase requisitions, travel requests, travel expense reports and PCard purchases. * Ensures that project deliverables are submitted in accordance with sponsor agreements. * Aid in resolving sponsored project compliance with Export Control, Financial Conflict of Interest, IACUC and IRB regulations, freezing financial activity on a project until compliance issues are resolved. Consults with the Office of Research Compliance as needed. The Hanigan lab focuses on identifying novel cancer vulnerabilities resulting from the collateral amplification or deletion of metabolic enzymes during tumorigenesis and drug resistance. Given that many of these enzymes are implicated in recessive metabolic disorders, they represent potential targets for both cancer and metabolic disease. Based on this model, we have developed inhibitors of a mitochondrial enzyme with selective efficacy in NKX2-1 amplified lung cancer, and identified potential metabolic vulnerabilities due to PTEN deletion in prostate and CNS cancers. The lab uses both target oriented and phenotypic drug discovery approaches, with projects ranging from medicinal chemistry and diversity oriented synthesis, to development of novel models of structural variation, systems pharmacology, high-content phenotypic screening and target identification using chemical proteomics and forward genetics. Primary duties will include building an independent research program to raise the research profile of the School of Engineering, publishing research in highly ranked journals, teaching undergraduate and future graduate courses and being an active academic service role model. A reduced teaching load is available to allow new hires to establish their research program at the university. Moreover, course buyouts are available tied to grant funding obtained by the faculty. Duties also include conceiving senior design projects, soliciting projects from industry, and cultivating a research-oriented culture among students. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace. The School of Engineering, with thriving enrollment, has ABET-accredited programs in Systems, Computer, and Petroleum Engineering. A transdisciplinary graduate program in Systems Engineering is currently pending final approval from the state and will possibly launch in Fall 2025. Required Qualifications The successful candidate must hold a PhD in Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related discipline. Candidates with degrees in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering with relevant experience to Systems Engineering and the proposed graduate program concentrations (analytics and automation) will be considered as well but must meet appropriate faculty credentialing requirements as per SACSCOC. Applicants close to finishing their doctoral studies will be considered if their degree completion is prior to the start of the 2025-2026 academic year. We strongly encourage candidates with demonstrated experience in semiconductor manufacturing (fabrication). Other areas of interest are healthcare systems engineering, digital logistics, cyber forensics, critical infrastructure systems, transportation engineering, and VR/AR/ER applications.
