The Department of Agricultural Economics, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University is seeking one full-time, Academic Professional Track (non-tenure) faculty position with a 9-month academic appointment. The anticiated start date for this opportunity is August 1, 2026. Applicants will be considered for the faculty titles of Instructional Assistant Professor, Instructional Associate Professor, Assistant Professor of the Practice or Associate Professor of the Practice depending on qualifications. Appointments at the Associate level are eligible for recommendation for the USAA Educational Foundation Endowed Professorship in Military Financial Readiness. Appointments at the Assistant level will become eligible for recommendation upon promotion to the Associate rank.
This role offers the opportunity to meaningfully impact student success, particularly for those in the Corps of Cadets, through recruitment, instruction, and mentorship and to play an active role in shaping the future of the newly established financial planning major, ensuring its alignment with evolving industry trends and best practices.
The primary duties are preparing and teaching courses related to both financial planning and financial readiness during the academic year and mentoring undergraduate students. The teaching load is three courses per semester, typically two related to financial planning, with the exact course assignment tailored to the candidate's expertise and specialization, and one over financial readiness in a course focused on equipping Corps of Cadet students with the necessary skills to navigate intricate financial decisions both during their military service and post-career. Teaching responsibilities include developing and delivering engaging courses, both in traditional classroom settings and online platforms, grading coursework, conducting regular office hours, and additional mentorship to students.
Additional key responsibilities include providing service to the department, college, and university, engaging with industry partners, collaborating with donors who support endowed funding in the areas of financial planning and financial readiness, and actively participating in financial planning program meetings, functions, and events. The successful candidate should also continue with their professional development by participating in relevant conferences and workshops and staying current with emerging knowledge in financial planning and financial readiness.
The financial planning program was established in 2014 with an academic minor and has experienced significant growth in the past decade. We currently serve over 385 students enrolled across our certificate, minor, and Bachelor of Science in Financial Planning programs. All programs are registered with the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Board of Standards.

The appointee must have a relevant PhD degree and the demonstrated potential to achieve (at the Assistant level) or have achieved (at the Associate and Full Professor levels), a significant record of research, external grant funding, and scholarly publications in top-ranked refereed journals.
The Hydrology and Environmental Earth Science position requires leading expertise in surface and groundwater fluid flow, plus computational modeling and inversion; preferred experience includes aqueous geochemistry, contaminant flow and monitoring, field and lab experiments, and related environmental earth science and climate science. A research program is preferred that combines both fundamental science (NSF, etc.) and applied science water resource analysis (DOE, EPA etc.). The successful candidate will play a significant role in our new BS certificate and degree programs in Sustainable Earth and Environment.
This expected start date for this tenure-system faculty position is August 1, 2026. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and advanced graduate level courses in the focus areas. A demonstrated ability to integrate a broad range of innovative hydrological and environmental earth science methods in research and teaching is preferred, including quantitative field or laboratory measurements, surface and subsurface investigations, and modern theoretical, computational, and data analysis approaches. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an internationally recognized research program supported by external research funding. Considering the responsibility public institutions of higher education have to prepare students for responsible citizenship in a free society, the Department has been charged with teaching core courses in Texas Government and Federal Government. Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a PhD in Political Science or a related field. Candidates who are ABD will also be considered but must have earned their degree before August 16, 2026. We are looking for candidates with primary research interests in comparative politics and the ability to teach courses in Mexican/Latin American and/or European or other regional politics. The successful candidate will also be able to teach courses in American national and/or state government.
