    Job Title Lecturer of Nursing - Part-Time Agency Texas A&M University - Texarkana Department CNHHS - Nursing Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Type Faculty Job Description The nursing program at Texas A&M University - Texarkana awards Bachelor of Science degrees (ADN-BSN & Traditional BSN) and Master of Science degrees in Nursing Administration, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and Family Nurse Practitioner. The programs are offered face-to-face (Traditional BSN), online (ADN-BSN), and online/hybrid (MSN) and are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The nursing programs are part of the College of Nursing, Health, and Human Services (CNHHS) and will be pursuing an aggressive program growth agenda over the next five (5) years. The appointment will be for a 12-month part-time faculty member with a hire date of January 2026. Job Location: This will be a part-time hybrid position, and the selected candidate will be required to be on the Texas A&M University - Texarkana campus a minimum of once per month. Multiple positions may be filled from this posting. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: * Teach courses in the MSN program in a variety of formats (face-to-face, online, hybrid) including didact, clinical, and simulation-based instruction and supervision. * Chair or serve on faculty search committees for the program * As time and budgets permit, promote enrollment in programs on campus and in wider communities * Maintain active memberships or affiliations with relevant professional organizations * Student advisement as assigned. * Active participant in program and curriculum development, assessment, revision, renewal, and accreditation (as necessary) * Perform appropriate levels of service within the university, region, and/or with regional/national healthcare entities. * Work with the Chair of Nursing, the Nurse Practitioner Coordinator, the MSN Administration Coordinator, and the Undergraduate Coordinator to develop collaborative relationships with local and regional healthcare entities. * Able to seek and participate in independent and/or collaborative extramurally funded projects and research. * NP Faculty are required to come to campus at least once per month, additional meetings or on-campus responsibilities may be required. * NP Faculty are required to precept students when needed. * NP Faculty are required to follow applicable policies regarding student site visits and evaluations. * In accordance with Texas Board of Nursing, Rules and Regulations relating to Nurse Education, Licensure and Practice (2014), faculty shall be responsible for: * Supervising students in clinical and experiential learning experiences * Supervising all initial nursing procedures performed by the student in the clinical area and ascertaining that the student is competent before allowing the student to perform an actual nursing procedure independently. * Developing, implementing, and evaluating curriculum * Participating in the development, implementation, and enforcement of standards/policies for admission, progression, probation, and dismissal of students, and participating in academic guidance and counseling. * This document represents the major duties, responsibilities, and authorities of this job, and is not intended to be a complete list of all tasks and functions. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Minimum Qualifications * Unencumbered RN license in the State of Texas or an unencumbered RN Compact license. * Current unencumbered Texas APRN license and national certification (FNP or PMHNP) * Master of Nursing Degree with certification an advanced practice certification and experience in the area of course being taught * Ability to engage in online instruction and limited on campus for clinical, didactic, and student/program needs * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Preferred Qualifications * Doctorate of Science in Nursing or equivalent * Terminal degree: Ph.D., DNP, Ed.D. * ABDs with confirmed doctoral dissertation defense dates will also be considered if the degree is conferred prior to the start date * Experience using Canvas or similar LMS 9.1 * Experience teaching in a classroom setting and a clinical setting. * Current clinical practical experience * Leadership, Community Health, Public Health, and/or Rural Health experience * A record of Professional Activities related to nursing or nursing education. * Evidence of research agenda and scholarship Other Requirements * Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours. * Ability to maintain confidentiality. The teaching load is typically 2 courses per semester. The Department of Sociology serves around 120 Sociology and Markets and Culture majors and minors. Markets and Culture is an interdisciplinary economic sociology degree housed in Sociology. Our department is collegial with a strong history of working with McNair Scholars and offering courses that support other majors including African/African-American Studies, Mexican-American Studies, Health & Society, Human Rights and the Women's and Gender Studies and Law and Legal Reasoning minors. Our faculty contribute to the Dedman College Interdisciplinary Institute's research symposia and take advantage of the opportunities to live on campus in the residential commons as a Faculty-In-Residence and teach during the summer and inter-terms at our sister campus in the mountains of Taos, NM. SMU is in a transformative period of expansion and momentum. In February, the university met its goal of reaching the R-1 research tier and the recent SMU Ignited fundraising campaign surpassed its goal three years early after raising over $1.6 billion by May 2025. Student applications for Fall 2025 increased 59% over the previous year and we are welcoming our largest incoming cohort in university history. In the past four years, a series of interdisciplinary faculty cluster hires centering on urban studies, data science and high-performance computing, earth hazards and national security, and 21st century technology and education are introducing new collaborations among the faculty across the university and generating innovation in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, a culturally rich arts and global business center that is home to numerous universities, arts organizations and Fortune 500 corporations, and beyond.
