Ted is Co-founder and Managing Director of NRV, a Virginia based venture capital firm that brings counsel, connections and capital to high growth early stage companies. He offers more than 30 years of C-suite experience, strategic leadership and board service. He serves or has served on the boards of directors of a number of NRV portfolio companies: WealthForge (fintech); Territory (health and wellness); ICX Media (digital marketing); Ario (augmented reality); Moonlighting (services marketplace); Red’s (health and wellness) and Health Warrior (health and wellness). As a community leader, Ted serves on the boards of directors of the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges, University of Richmond School of Law, Richmond Performing Arts Center, and the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at the University of Virginia. He also co-chairs the RVA/757 Connects regional collaborative. Ted previously served as the chairman of VCU Massey Cancer Center, Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce, Partnership for Nonprofit Excellence, Maymont Foundation, Richmond Arts Foundation, and Association for Corporate Growth. He also served on the boards of directors of the Mutual Assurance Society of Virginia, Mid-Atlantic Heart Association, United Way, Mariner’s Museum, Greater Richmond Partnership, and the Virginia Business Council. Prior to co-founding NRV, Ted served as Chairman and CEO of a Fortune 500 financial services company. Additionally, he was the lead director of the world’s eighth largest property and casualty insurance broker as well as serving on other public company boards. He began his career as an attorney at Williams Mullen, a large Mid-Atlantic law firm, where he specialized in corporate, mergers, and securities law. Ted has a BS in Accounting from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia and a JD from the University of Richmond School of Law.
