Salary Information Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and the Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations Nature of Work The fundamental reason this classification exists is to perform technical engineering work, including inspecting new developments and public works projects. The work responsibilities include reviewing site plans, conducting on-site inspections, communicating with consultants and design engineers, assisting citizens with city-related concerns, and coordinating with utility companies and State agencies. The employee will report directly to a higher-level Engineering Technician, Civil Engineer, or Professional Engineer. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or a GED and three (3) years of technical engineering experience in the area of traffic, public works, planning, and/or transportation. NOTE: Qualifying education, training, and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered. Perform in-place moisture-density results to verify project compaction requirements are met. Oversee drilling, logging of borings, and instrumentation installation. GENERAL PURPOSE Working under the direct supervision of a Licensed Professional Engineer, employee is responsible for conducting reviews of civil engineering technical documents and various city permit applications for compliance with current city, state, and federal guidelines and requirements. Employee will work closely with other team members to address citizen concerns and assist in the resolution of contractor/developer conflicts. Under general supervision, the SCADA Technician performs a variety of technical tasks in support of the SCADA system to include calibrating equipment, performing overall maintenance and correcting problems with equipment; providing technical support; serving as first responder to outages and equipment failures; coordinating work; and documenting work activities. Posted pay range is the starting salary. Pay rate offered is based on experience. Examples of Duties * Troubleshoot SCADA field equipment demonstrating knowledge on how to operate HMIs and using database historians to identify faults. * Repairs and maintains SCADA by diagnosing problems using schematic drawings, monitoring software, and digital test equipment; repairs, replaces and reprograms by diagnosis; performs routine maintenance on SCADA system components; performs visual and machine aided inspections, installs and inspects weatherization. * Builds SCADA by assembling parts to form a working product; tests assembly prior to deployment; deploys, assembles, and integrates field and human machine interface. * Maintains UPS equipment by diagnosing software to measure uninterruptable power supply capacity; replaces batteries if capacity is low; replaces UPS if unit fails. * Calibrates instruments by using test equipment; performs periodic calibrations to verify monitoring instruments are within limits; directs others to perform calibrations.
